A method and system are disclosed for post optical character recognition font size determination. Optical character recognition output from an optical character recognition engine that includes character and bounding box information is aggregated into character strings. Measurements are then collected from each character in each character string that correspond to alignment heights of the top or bottom of the character with an ascender-line, a cap-line, a digit-line, a mean-line, a base-line, or a descender-line. Histograms are formed for each of these heights for each character string from the collected measurements. Based on the histograms, a pivot height is selected and used to determine the relative font size of the character string. The relative font size is normalized using a preselected factor associated with the selected pivot height. The normalized font size is then output as the font size of characters in the optical character recognition output.

A detector butt descending section is followed by a detector butt ascending section, and a concave section is followed by a butt descending section. The concave section is formed such that the second cam surface is sufficiently spaced from the first cam surface so that the butt of a needle with a broken hook is pushed into the concave section by the detector butt descending section, but without damaging the needle The needle butt does not enter the concave section of the detector. A sensor recognizes the end of a needle whose butt is located in the concave section of the detector. The device may further comprise means for stopping the operation of the knitting machine after the sensor has been triggered. A method for detecting a broken hook and a needle for use with said device are also provided.

The descender device for a textile rope (F) includes a casing in which a cam mechanism (10) and an actuating lever (3) for the cam mechanism (10) are housed. The casing (2) includes a return element (13) for the rope (F). The cam mechanism (10) includes a lever pin (29) rotatably actuated by the actuation lever (3) and a movable cam (25) which is rotatably movable between a deactivation position and a locked position in which the movable cam (25) presses on the rope (F) against the return element (13). The lever pin (29) acts on a rocker member (32) which is integral with the movable cam (25) during a first rotation step of the lever pin (29) in a direction opposite to the activation direction of the movable cam (25).

Rotary High Lifter and Controlled Descender

A rotary high lifter and controlled descender has a main housing enclosing a ratchet spool, controlled descender, and locking pawl. An adjustable crank turns the ratchet spool and takes up rope which raises an attached feeder, nestbox, etc. The locking pawl assures that as the rope is wound, the lifter / descender automatically locks in place so that an inadvertent crank release of the crank does not cause the feeder to fall. The rope exits the main housing via an inlet nipple which protects the housing from the elements, insects, etc. To lower the feeder, actuate a cam lock to release the locking pawl, and turn the crank in the opposite direction. Releasing the cam lock can actuate a controlled descender portion of the invention. These components apply a brake-pad-like action against the ratchet spool (can also use a tension knob) to control the speed of rotation and descent.

The descender comprises a handle and a cam that are movable between a securing position and a sliding position of the rope. The cam defines a first stop and a second pin. The handle has a first pin coming into contact with the first stop to form a first mechanical link and a second stop coming into contact with the second pin. In a threshold position of the handle, the first mechanical link is interrupted and the cam returns to the securing position. The second stop is movable with respect to the handle by means of a spring.
