Disclosed is a detection system for detecting a winning number in a roulette game played on a roulette wheel having pockets for receiving a ball and having colored pocket number regions corresponding to the respective pockets, including a video camera for generating a video image of the roulette wheel including at least one colored pocket number region and a corresponding pocket. The video data at an array of points in a first specified area of the color video image corresponding to a region through which the color pocket number region will pass are sampled when the cylinder of the roulette wheel is spun. The identity of the colored pocket number regions are determined from the sampled video data provided by the array of points. The video data is also sampled at a plurality of points in a second specified area in which the ball can be expected to be when in the pocket corresponding to the identified colored pocket number region. Whether or not the ball is in the pocket is determined using the sampled video data provided by the plurality of points and the identity of the identified colored pocket numbered region is output as the winning number if the ball is determined to be in the corresponding pocket.

Modulated excitation fluorescense analysis

Fluorescence, spectroscopy is used to analyze small numbers of molecules that are present in a relatively small detection volume or zone. Information regarding physical and chemical properties of these molecules is determined by rapidly modulating the wavelength, intensity and / or polarization of laser energy to excite fluorophores that are attached either to the molecule of interest or a molecule that interacts with the molecule of interest. The emission profile of the fluorophores is used to determine useful information about the labeled and / or non-labeled molecules including molecular interactions between th molecules.

Circuit and method for limiting subthreshold leakage

Disclosed are circuits and methods that prevent failure modes in related circuits. The circuit processes a pulse for use with a related circuit. The circuit comprises a timer and one or more logic gates. The timer produces an output in a given state if the duration of the pulse reaches a predetermined amount of time. The predetermined amount of time is related to a parameter of the related circuit. The one or more logic gates have an output that is the same as the pulse unless and until the output of the timer is in the given state, at which time, the output of the one or more logic gates is forced to a non-pulsed state. Preferably, the parameter is a subthreshold leakage rate across an FET. The method is used with a circuit in which leakage can occur at a first rate. The method comprises the step of sensing a condition that prompts leakage to occur in the circuit. In response to the sensing step, the method produces a related leakage at a faster rate than the first rate. The method disables the condition if the related leakage reaches a predetermined level. Preferably, the condition is a pulse.

Method for operating an at least generator-operable electric motor and means for the implementation thereof

A method for controlling a multi-phase electric machine, whose phase terminals in an active bridge rectifier are respectively connected, via controllable first current valves, to a first DC voltage terminal and via second current valves to a second DC voltage terminal. The method includes switching on the first current valves when an output voltage between the first DC voltage terminal and the second DC voltage terminal has exceeded an upper threshold value at an exceedance point in time, and shutting off the first current valves again only once the output voltage has subsequently fallen below a lower threshold value at a shortfall point in time. The first current valves are shut off again after the shortfall point in time individually, and each only when a respective indication value, which characterizes a current flow in the phase terminal associated with the respective current valve, exhibits a predetermined property.

Depth disambiguation of interventional instruments from a single x-ray projection image and its calibration

InactiveUS20120190972A1Robust in useFacilitate navigation and site mappingImage enhancementImage analysisX ray imageLight source
X-ray images are projective, meaning that the 3D geometry is flattened along projection lines going from the source to the detector. In particular procedures, such as mapping or ablation, the interventional instrument lies on the wall of the organ. Using a 3D segmentation of this organ registered to the x-ray, the instrument necessarily lies on the intersection of this surface with its projection line. The line and the surface typically intersect with a segmentation surface at a discrete number of points (typically 2 for shapes such as the anterior of the LA). One then has just to disambiguate between these different possible locations to determine the exact location of the instrument. In this invention, we propose to use the apparent width of the instrument measured in x-ray images to accomplish this task.
