Wireless communal gaming system

A system and method for wireless communal gaming in a casino environment. The system includes one or more wireless gaming devices each equipped with a display, one or more gaming servers configured to communicate wirelessly with the wireless gaming devices, and one or more financial servers configured to record financial transactions for players playing communal games of chance on the handheld gaming devices. The wireless approach to communal gaming allows greater player mobility within the casino establishment and also allows a large number of players (players playing wirelessly as well as players playing traditionally at a physical player station) to participate in a common game, thereby increasing the capacity of existing communal game tables. When the wireless game-playing option is available, a player can participate in the communal game regardless of whether there is a physical player station available. Thus, flexible game-playing options can be provided to casino patrons participating in a communal game.

Minimally invasive valve replacement system

Methods and systems for minimally invasive replacement of a valve. The system includes a collapsible valve and anchoring structure, devices and methods for expanding the valve anchoring structure, adhesive means to seal the valve to the surrounding tissue, a catheter-based valve sizing and delivery system, native valve removal means, and a temporary valve and filter assembly to facilitate removal of debris material. The valve assembly comprises a valve and anchoring structure for the valve, dimensioned to fit substantially within the valve sinus.

System and method for simulation of virtual wear articles on virtual models

A system and method for designing a wear article for an object comprises providing a virtual three-dimensional model of the object, including first data representing three dimensions of the object. Virtual two-dimensional patterns representing different portions of the wear article are assembled into a virtual three-dimensional wear article. The virtual three-dimensional wear article includes second data representing three dimensions of the wear article. A material type is associated with one or more of the virtual patterns and the virtual three-dimensional wear article. The material type has third data representing at least one physical property of the material type. In order to display the virtual three-dimensional wear article on the virtual three-dimensional model, the first and second data are compared to determine the non-intersection of the virtual three-dimensional wear article with the virtual three-dimensional object. The virtual three-dimensional wear article is then conformed to the virtual three-dimensional model within constraints imposed by the third data. With this arrangement, the system and method enables the virtual wear article to stretch, flex, sag, etc., on the virtual model to better approximate the real-life fit and look of the wear article on an object during design of the wear article.

System and method for optimizing data analysis

There is provided an adaptive semi-synchronous parallel processing system and method, which may be adapted to various data analysis applications such as flow cytometry systems. By identifying the relationship and memory dependencies between tasks that are necessary to complete an analysis, it is possible to significantly reduce the analysis processing time by selectively executing tasks after careful assignment of tasks to one or more processor queues, where the queue assignment is based on an optimal execution strategy. Further strategies are disclosed to address optimal processing once a task undergoes computation by a computational element in a multiprocessor system. Also disclosed is a technique to perform fluorescence compensation to correct spectral overlap between different detectors in a flow cytometry system due to emission characteristics of various fluorescent dyes.
