Body limb movement limiter

A body limb movement limiter restrains the movement of a person's arm so as to protect the person's shoulder or restrains the movement of a person's lower leg with respect to the upper leg so as to protect the person's knee. The device uses a housing having a reel disposed therein with a tether attached thereto and a shear thickening non-Newtonian fluid disposed within the housing so that the fluid acts on the reel during a payout procedure of the tether. The housing is attached to a strap secured about the torso of the person while the free end of the tether is secured about the person's arm. Alternately, a pair of arms are pivotally secured to each other within a housing having the non-Newtonian fluid therein for limiting movement of one arm with respect to the other.

Chair for use during wade fishing

A chair for use during wade fishing in order to allow the user to sit above the water line has a director's chair with four feet, two forwardly located and two rearwardly located. Extensions are threadably removed within receivers attached to each foot, the extensions having pointed ends that are received within the sandy bottom below the water line. Steps are located just below the feet to help a user get into the chair. Weight distribution disks are frictionally held on the extensions to prevent undue sinking of the chair. Pouches, both mesh and waterproof, are attached to the arm rests and the seat of the chair. A rod holder is receivable within an opening on the arm rest. A receiver is attached to the frame of an upper portion of the chair to hold an umbrella.

Step-down in-line butt connector

A step-down in-line butt connector receives a pair of wires, one at either end, wherein the wires are each of a different gauge. A hollow tubular body member has a first end and a second end such that the inside diameter and the outside diameter of the first end is larger relatively to the inside diameter and the outside diameter of the second end respectively, while the wall thickness of the body member remains relatively constant between the first end and the second end. An opening is located medially of the body member and may have a stop thereat. The body member is received within a heat shrinkable hollow sleeve that is heated after each end of the body member is crimped in order for the sleeve to form around the body member. A heat activated adhesive within the hollow sleeve helps seal the overall system.

Pull-chain shower valve

A pull-chain shower valve is interposed between a pipe stub and a shower head of a typical shower and allows a user to turn the water on and off at the shower head assembly without the need to use the main valve controls of the shower. The device uses a ball valve that articulates between an open position wherein water flows out of the shower head and a closed position wherein water does not flow out of the shower head. A standard pull-chain assembly is used to articulate the ball valve between its open position and its closed position. A pull-chain of the pull-chain assembly is pulled in order to advance the ball valve to its next position. Each sufficient pull of the pull-chain advances the ball valve exactly 90 degrees. If the pull-chain is not pulled sufficiently, the ball valve resets to its prior position. A reset mechanism is provided for the pull-chain.

Child carrier and swimming aid

A child carrier and swimming aid allows a caregiver to carry a child in pressing relation to the caregiver's torso and allows the device to be used in the water. The adult dons a harness and places the child into a vest, which vest is a personal flotation device. The vest is attached to the harness in order to facilitate normal carrying of the child by the adult. In a body of water, the vest can be detached from the harness allowing the child to float free of the adult, with the vest being tethered to the harness for safety.

Retractable leash with gradual braking

A retractable pet leash system allows a pet to vary its distance from the leash system, with the system paying out additional leash as needed, and when not needed, automatically retracting the leash back into the system. If at any time a user desires to halt further payout of leash, the user presses a button that causes the leash to be pressed against a frictional element that causes braking of leash payout at a gradually increasing rate while simultaneously, a lever lockably engages the spool preventing further rotation of the spool in the payout direction.
