Magnetic jewelry clasp with safety catch

A jewelry clasp having a pair of bodies at the free ends of a piece of jewelry affixed together by magnetic forces. Each body has a magnet means having north and south poles that are aligned along the longitudinal center line of the clasp with opposite poles abutting each other to hold those bodies in the affixed relationship. There is a safety catch on one of the bodies having a protrusion extending therefrom that overlaps the other body to hold the bodies together. As the protrusion is moved into its latched position, the other body is displaced along the longitudinal centerline to misalign the respective magnetic means, and when the protrusion seats in its latched position, the magnetic means realigns by the magnetic attraction between the magnetic means creating an click that can be heard and / or felt by the wearer to confirm that the bodies are properly affixed together.

The linked bracelet, in particular for a watch, comprises a metal hinged chain passing through a series of ornamental tubular links (4) made of ceramic material, each ornamental link (4) having at least one longitudinal passage (20), in which a metal link and a hinge associated with it are housed and can rest against an inside surface (26) of the base (27) of the ornamental link in the region of the hinge, when the hinge is in a folded position. A front face (23) of each ornamental link (4) has at least one raised section (34) located in the same region of the width of the ornamental link as said inside surface (26) where the hinge or the metal link rests, this raised section being arranged to abut against the opposite front face (24) of the adjacent ornamental link when the hinge is in said folded position. This arrangement balances the vertical force (F) exerted by the chain on the base (27) of the ornamental link at the right place and thus prevents any risk of fracture by transverse bending.

Rotary joint assembly and combination clip-hook and jewelry piece employing the same

This invention provides a combination clip and hook (clip) for use generally in suspending articles having shoulder or hand straps, or carrying other accessories, such as keys, which is rotatably movable about a rotary joint between a first position in which two opposing, rotatably joined portions of the overall clip structure are oriented together to form a continuous, enclosed shape that can be secured around another strap or loop on an item or piece of clothing, and a second position in which the two portions of the structure are rotated out of the enclosed shape, and into, for example, a substantially S-shaped hook in which one portion of the structure supports the strap of the item and the other portion can be applied to a clothing hook, chair back, table surface, door top, or other supporting member. The joint between the two portions can define a spring-loaded rotating pivot assembly with at least two indexing positions that are opposed by 180 degrees thereby defining the enclosed orientation and hook orientation, respectively. The rotary joint can be constructed with a pair of confronting male and female wedge and detent inserts that are normally biased toward each other by an embedded spring assembly. The spring assembly can comprise a series of Belleville washers arranged in a stack about a pivot shaft.
