Finger protecting device and method for protecting at least one finger

A finger protecting device (1) for protecting at least one finger of a hand of a user of the device (1) against the occurrence of chafing resulting from rubbing of the at least one finger against the shaft (3) when practicing a sport with the shaft (3), such as golfing and the like. The finger protecting device (1) comprises a sleeve (5) removably mountable onto a thumb of the hand, and being shaped and sized for covering a substantial portion of the thumb. The sleeve (5) has opposite front and rear surfaces (7, 9), the front surface (7) being positioned before a digital area of the thumb when the sleeve (5) is mounted onto the thumb for acting as a barrier between the thumb and the shaft (3), thereby protecting the thumb against the occurrence of chafing resulting from rubbing against the shaft (3). The sleeve (5) further has first and second opposite ends (11, 13), the second end (13) being open-ended for allowing the thumb to be inserted into the sleeve (5) through said second end (13). The finger protecting device (1) also comprises fastening means (15) operatively connected to the sleeve (5) for selectively adjusting and fastening the sleeve (5) onto the thumb when mounted thereon. Preferably also, the finger protecting device (1) comprises extension portions for mounting the device onto corresponding parts of the hand, as well as additional sleeves (105) for protecting other fingers of the hand against chafing, the other sleeves (105) being shaped preferably so as to enable the finger tips of the fingers to be exposed so as to enable a better feel for the shaft (3) when practicing a sport therewith.

Retractable Quilt Clamp Apparatus

A retractable quilt clamp apparatus is disclosed having a clamp attached to a strap, and a strap retraction mechanism attached to the strap. The strap retraction mechanism is configured to retract and retain at least part of the strap. The strap retraction mechanism includes a case, a spool, a spiral spring, and a brake. The case at least partially houses and retains the spool. The case and the spool retain the spiral spring. The strap is attached to the spiral spring, which biases the strap to be wound about the spool. The case includes a brake region for retaining and guiding movement of the brake. The brake is configured to press against the strap when in a locked position, and to allow clearance for the strap to move relative to the case when in an unlocked position. A bracket is used to attach the apparatus to a quilting frame, such as a quilting frame of a longarm quilting system.

Finishing needle

The finishing needle is a hand sewing tool used for weaving loose ends of yarn back into a hand-knitted item when finishing a knitting work. The finishing needle is a long needle with two ends that taper to a semi-point at each end. The needle has a single eye that extends through the length of the needle. The eye has a beveled edge that provides for easier threading and to hold the yarn securely. The finishing needle can weave loose ends of yarn into a knitted item when finishing without stopping to turn the needle around, and with no need to re-thread, when weaving in the opposite direction. The finishing needle can more easily make use of shorter lengths of yarn than a conventional needle or hook, and can finish a large knitted item or one with multiple colors much faster than with a conventional needle.
