Retractable Quilt Clamp Apparatus

A retractable quilt clamp apparatus is disclosed having a clamp attached to a strap, and a strap retraction mechanism attached to the strap. The strap retraction mechanism is configured to retract and retain at least part of the strap. The strap retraction mechanism includes a case, a spool, a spiral spring, and a brake. The case at least partially houses and retains the spool. The case and the spool retain the spiral spring. The strap is attached to the spiral spring, which biases the strap to be wound about the spool. The case includes a brake region for retaining and guiding movement of the brake. The brake is configured to press against the strap when in a locked position, and to allow clearance for the strap to move relative to the case when in an unlocked position. A bracket is used to attach the apparatus to a quilting frame, such as a quilting frame of a longarm quilting system.

Thread storage and dispensing apparatus

A multiple thread dispenser which serves as both a portable container for many spools of thread and a dispenser of multiple strands of thread. The container dispenses thread for use with a sewing machine. The spools of thread are stored in an array of pockets which are relieved for easy access to the spools. Multiple strands of thread dispense from a top row of pockets. A base plate stabilizes the container while dispensing thread to a sewing machine. The base plate can be stored within the container during transport. The base plate has a pocket on the bottom of the base plate for printed material that can be viewed through a semi-transparent lid when the base plate is in its stored position.

Finishing needle

The finishing needle is a hand sewing tool used for weaving loose ends of yarn back into a hand-knitted item when finishing a knitting work. The finishing needle is a long needle with two ends that taper to a semi-point at each end. The needle has a single eye that extends through the length of the needle. The eye has a beveled edge that provides for easier threading and to hold the yarn securely. The finishing needle can weave loose ends of yarn into a knitted item when finishing without stopping to turn the needle around, and with no need to re-thread, when weaving in the opposite direction. The finishing needle can more easily make use of shorter lengths of yarn than a conventional needle or hook, and can finish a large knitted item or one with multiple colors much faster than with a conventional needle.
