System and methods for on-body gestural interfaces and projection displays

A wearable system with a gestural interface for wearing on, for instance, the wrist of a user. The system comprises an ultrasonic transceiver array structure and may comprise a pico projector display element for displaying an image on a surface. User anatomical feature inputs are received in the form of ultrasound signals representative of a spatio-temporal cross-section of the wrist of the user by articulating wrist, finger and hand postures, which articulations are translated into gestures. Inputs from inertial and other sensors are used by the system as part of the anatomical feature posture identification method and device. Gestures are recognized using a mathematically-modeled, simulation-based set of biological metrics of tissue objects, which gestures are converted to executable computer instructions. Embodiments of the system disclosed herein may also be used to monitor biometric and health data over computer networks or using onboard systems.

Selecting virtual objects in a three-dimensional space

Systems and methods for interacting with virtual objects in a three-dimensional space using a wearable system are disclosed. The wearable system can be programmed to allow a user to interact with virtual objects using a user input device and poses. The wearable system can also automatically determine contextual information such as layout of the virtual objects in the user's environment and switch the user input mode based on the contextual information.

Interactions with 3D virtual objects using poses and multiple-dof controllers

A wearable system can comprise a display system configured to present virtual content in a three-dimensional space, a user input device configured to receive a user input, and one or more sensors configured to detect a user's pose. The wearable system can support various user interactions with objects in the user's environment based on contextual information. As an example, the wearable system can adjust the size of an aperture of a virtual cone during a cone cast (e.g., with the user's poses) based on the contextual information. As another example, the wearable system can adjust the amount of movement of virtual objects associated with an actuation of the user input device based on the contextual information.

Fall-sensing systems, hip protector systems, and other protective systems

Fall-sensing systems are provided which do not generate false alarms for a non-falling event. Inventive fall-sensing systems may be magnetometer-free. Thin-profile (less than ½ inch, pre-inflation) wearable systems are provided. By removing the problem of false alarms and by slimming the pre-inflation profile, a practically useable wearable protection solution may be provided for an individual prone to falling. The number and severity of hip fractures in the elderly may be reduction. The inventive product actively assesses fall accidents and triggers an inflatable airbag protection device. The problem of non-compliance in wearing hip protectors that has previously limited the effectiveness of other hip protectors also has been solved.

Adjustable Wearable System Having a Modular Sensor Platform

A wearable system and methods for measuring physiological data from a device worn about a body part of a user is provided comprising a base module, a first sensor module, and a second sensor module. The base module comprises a display and a base computing unit. The first sensor module measures a gravitational force experienced by the device. The second sensor module is spatially positioned relative to the base module and over a portion of the body part for measuring one or more physiological characteristics calibrated based on the gravitational force measured with the first sensor module. The base module is adjustably positioned by the user relative to the second sensor module such that the sensor module maintains its positioning over the body part for sufficient contact with the body part for accurate measurements of physiological data regardless of the anthropometric size of the body part.

System for storing, accessing and displaying html-encoded documents relating to an object being worked upon in a work environment by a human operator wearing a wireless http-enabled client system equipped with a code symbol reader programmed to read a url-encoded symbol on the object, access said html-encoded documents from http-enabled information servers connected to an information network, and display same for review while working said object

A body-wearable bar code symbol driven system for accessing information resources from information servers connected to communication networks, including the Internet. The body-wearable system includes a hand-mounted bar code symbol reader for reading bar code symbols encoded with information representative of information resources stored in information servers connected to the Internet and supporting the TCP / IP standard. A computing platform, worn on the body of the operator, is provided for supporting an Internet browser. A telecommunication modem is operably connected to the computing platform in order to establish a two-way telecommunication link between the Internet browser and an Internet service provider (ISP) connected to the Internet. In response to reading bar code symbols, the Internet browser automatically accesses information resources from Internet information servers using the information encoded in bar code symbols read by the bar code symbol reader. A display panel is provided for visually displaying information resources accessed from the Internet information servers by the bar code symbol driven Internet browser.
