Method and apparatus for treatment of congestive heart failure by improving perfusion of the kidney by infusion of a vasodilator

A method for treating congestive heart failure (CHF) has been developed that restores kidney renal functions by artificial vasodilation of at least one kidney. A vasodilator drug is locally delivered to the kidney via a kidney perfusion catheter. The drug can be mixed with the patient's blood, saline or other suitable solvent and the mixture directly applied to the kidney through the catheter. The restoration of kidney function assists the heart by removing excess fluid, urine and toxin from the patient, and by normalizing the patient's renin-angiotensin system and other neurohormonal substances. The method is applicable to treat chronic and acute CHF.

Drug eluting surface covering

A thin-walled sheath is placed over a balloon having an antirestenotic drug placed on the balloon of a balloon dilatation catheter. The sheath protects the drug from dissolution into the blood and allows improved delivery to the lesion site. A rolling action of the sheath prevents the drug from loss due to shearing motion. The sheath can also provide a protected surface for carrying the drug and providing exposure to the lesion site for delivery of the drug. The sheath can also serve as a delivery sheath for providing delivery of a stent via a single catheter introduction for drug delivery and stent delivery.

Bladder syringe fluid delivery system

A bladder syringe for a fluid delivery system includes a cylindrical body, a cap-bladder assembly, a plunger element disposed in the cylindrical body, and a mounting assembly to secure the cap-bladder assembly to the cylindrical body. The cylindrical body has a distal end and a proximal end and defines a throughbore. The cap-bladder assembly is adapted for connection to the distal end of the cylindrical body, and includes a cap body and a bladder. The cap body defines an interior cavity and a distal discharge conduit and is adapted to engage the distal end of the cylindrical body. A disc-shaped bladder is disposed within the interior cavity and typically includes a central membrane portion. The plunger element is disposed in the throughbore of the cylindrical body and is vented to enable evacuation of the space between the plunger element and the cap-bladder assembly in the cylindrical body.

Partial-length, indwelling prostatic catheter using coiled inflation tube as an anchor and methods of draining urine and flushing clots

An indwelling catheter is positioned in a urinary tract to drain urine from the bladder to a position distally adjacent to a sphincter muscle. A balloon of the catheter is inflated through an inflation tube extending through the urinary tract. A coiled section of the inflation tube contacts the constriction caused by the sphincter muscle. The balloon and the coiled section resist movement of the indwelling catheter while still permitting natural urination. The indwelling catheter is inserted by an insertion tool which is separably connected to the catheter. Once the indwelling catheter is positioned, the tool is disconnected and withdrawn from the urinary tract. Risks of blood clots obstructing the flow of urine through the indwelling catheter immediately following a surgical procedure on the prostate gland are avoided by flushing fluid through the insertion tool and the catheter to clear an internal urine flow passageway in the catheter.

Hydro-block air vent combination catheter system and method of use

This invention is a device utilizing hydro-block venting material in various external male and female catheter configurations permitting adequate airflow into the catheter thereby permitting efficient and complete drainage of urine away from the user following urination. In two embodiments user's expelled urine is automatically detected by a sensor and drawn away from the user by a pump means to a user selected storage means as a pressure relief balloon prevents air interference with the sensor. In another embodiment gravity is utilized to draw user's expelled urine away from user to a user selected storage means. An adhesive, garment or strap attachment means are disclosed as attachment means to secure the external male and female catheter to user and prevent leakage. The external male and female catheters are engineered to also be able to be connected to and used in combination with an indwelling catheter.

Urine collection assembly

A urine collection assembly includes a urine collection device and a urine collection chamber in communication with the urine collection device. The urine collection chamber includes a collection reservoir, an entrance conduit having an inlet to receive urine from the urine collection device and an outlet terminating in the reservoir, an anti-reflux valve, and an exit conduit. The collection reservoir is configured to be wearable in close proximity to a user's body below the waist and above the knees of the user. The collection reservoir holds urine excreted from a user. The exit conduit enables drainage of the collection reservoir. The exit conduit also enables attachment of the collection reservoir to an additional conventional urine collection chamber. The anti-reflex valve is configured to prevent urine from backing up out of the urine collection chamber and into the urine collection device. The inlet of the urine collection chamber is disposed in close approximation to the urine collection device to direct urine from the urine collection device to the collection reservoir. The urine collection assembly further can include a support device wearable by the user to bear the weight of the urine collection chamber and to support the inlet of the urine collection chamber in close approximation to the urine collection device.

Survival suit

A survival suit including two bladders filled with air exhaled from the user to provide warmth and floatation. The first bladder is located against the user's back that covers the entire dorsal region. Located behind the first bladder is a second bladder that acts as an insulation layer when submerged under water. Both the first and second bladders are filled with fibrous filler material to provide insulation and allow exhaled air to flow freely therein. An air conduit extends from the user's mouth to the second inner bladder. Formed between the first and second bladders is an air passageway that delivers air from the second bladder into the first bladder. Air outlet ports located on the first bladder allows exhaled air to escape into the body cavity and that completely surround the user. The exhaled air in the body cavity eventually escapes through the face opening.

Preparation method of anti-phlegm embolus tracheal catheter loaded with hydrogel coating

The invention discloses a preparation method of an anti-phlegm embolus tracheal catheter loaded with a hydrogel coating. The hydrogel coating is adopted to solve the problem that the tracheal catheter is easy to block. Due to the hydrophilic and water-locking characteristics of the hydrogel coating, phlegm can move downwards to the lung along the hydrogel coating of the tracheal catheter, and the situation that the catheter is blocked due to adhesion, aggregation and even dryness of the phlegm is avoided; and when the tracheal catheter is smooth, colonization of bacteria is reduced, so that formation of a biological membrane can be inhibited, and the probability of occurrence of ventilator-related pneumonia can be greatly reduced.
