Automated endoscope reprocessor

An automated endoscope reprocessor (10) includes a removable rack (12) for receiving a container (16, 16′). The container has a clamshell housing (20) having two mating portions (24, 26). The portions together define an internal pressurizable chamber (56) for receiving an endoscope head (22). The endoscope's connector cord (82) is carried through an outlet (80) to the chamber. The outlet is defined by channels (88, 90), one in each of the two housing portions (24, 26). A gasket assembly in the outlet provides a restricted fluid passage which allows a small portion of fluid to flow through the outlet when the connector cord is positioned therein. The gasket assembly (120) includes a number of resiliently flexible fins (126, 128, 130) positioned in each channel, each fin having a U-shaped slot (144, 146, 148). Pairs of fins overlap such that the slots together define openings (150) of diminishing size. Depending on the diameter of the cord, the cord is contacted by one or more of the fins adjacent the respective slot. A reprocessing liquid, such as peracetic acid in solution, is pumped into the chamber (56). The liquid leaks slowly through the slots, allowing an above ambient pressure to be maintained in the chamber, while ensuring that all exterior surfaces of the endoscope are contacted with the reprocessing liquid.

Endoscope reprocessor connectors having reduced occlusion

An occlusion minimizing connector connects a lumen in a lumen device to a source of sterilization fluid in an endoscope reprocessor. The connector has a sealing portion shaped to engage a surface on the lumen device. The sealing portion is formed of a resilient material biasing a sealing surface into contact with the surface on the lumen device. The biasing is such that the seal is maintained when pressure within the flow passage is below a predetermined level preventing leakage of the flow past the sealing portion. When pressure within the flow passage is above the predetermined level fluid leaks past the sealing portion to bathe the surface on the lumen device. Thus, the surface will not be occluded during a cleaning process.

Automated endoscope reprocessor connection integrity testing via liquid suction

A method detects proper connection of fixtures to a channel in an endoscope and proper flow through the channel during a cleaning or disinfection procedure. The endoscope has a first opening into one of its channels to which is connected a fixture and a second opening which is placed into a liquid. Negative pressure at the first opening draws an amount of liquid through the channel which is measured. If the channel is blocked insufficient liquid will flow an be measured. If the fixture is not connected properly air will leak in and insufficient liquid will flow an be measured.

Cartridge holder for automated reprocessor

A cartridge holder (30) for an automated endoscope reprocessor (10) is mounted on a movable rack (14). As the rack is wheeled into the chamber, a connector (164) on the cartridge holder (164) automatically makes a fluid connection with a connection port (158) within the chamber. The cartridge holder includes a base (42) and a lid (44), which is pivotally connected to the base by a hinge (110). A cartridge (40) holding a dose of a disinfectant concentrate or reagents is positioned in a well (50) defined by the base and the lid closed. Water flows through the cartridge holder via a fluid passageway (A) defined in part by the lid and in part by the hinge. The water mixes with the concentrate or reagents and the resulting disinfectant solution passes out of a lower end (205) of the cartridge into the well. The solution flows upwardly, around the cartridge, through an annular space (232) between the cartridge and the well, disinfecting the well in the process. The solution exits the cartridge through a plurality of bores (80) at an upper end of the base.

Water-free reverse osmosis water purifying machine

The invention discloses a water-free reverse osmosis water purifying machine, which comprises a preprocessor and a reprocessor. The preprocessor and the reprocessor are serially arranged in the water intake pipe. Water flows into the reprocessor after being treated with the preprocessor. The reprocessor, which is a closed vessel, is seperated into a condensed-water region and a pure-water region by the reverse osmosis film. Pure water flows out through the outlet of the pure-water region. Condensed water is produced during the operation of the reprocessor and collected in a accumulator. The outlet of the accumulator is connected with a pipe through drain lines and the pipe is connected directly with the inlet of the water purifying machine. The outlet of the accumulator is also connected with the inlet of the reprocessor through reflux lines. Since the water purifying machine collects the discharged condensed water and adopts the recycling equipment, washing procedure of the reverse osmosis film is no longer needed. The above water purifying machine helps to save water and extend the service life of the filter core of the preprocessor.
