Hands free personal hydration delivery system

InactiveUS6283344B1Little suction effortReduce flow of fluidTravelling sacksTravelling carriersHigh elevationHands free
A hands-free personal hydration delivery system has a tubing assembly that has one end that detachably connects to a feed tube for a container of fluid worn on the back or torso of a user. The other end of the tubing assembly is coupled to a bite valve which is opened when manipulated by the user's mouth to allow fluid to be drawn by suction applied by the user, and is closed when not being manipulated so as to cut off fluid flow in an air-tight condition. An intermediate portion of the tubing assembly is mounted on the user's head or to the user's headgear at a position of higher elevation than the user's mouth. This allows fluid to be drawn to the elevated position and flow downward from there to the user's mouth by gravity feed. The fluid flow can then continue with little suction effort due to the gravity feed and siphoning effect of fluid from the container. The tubing can be mounted using retainer loops or other type of fasteners attached to a helmet, sports cap, head band bracket, headphone bracket, headband, or an earpiece worn by the user. The hydration delivery system is especially useful for bicycling, canoeing, mountain biking, kayaking, canoe paddling, and rowing environments.

Adjustable and progressive coil spring system for two wheeled vehicles

An adjustable coil spring system placed within a leg of a vehicle such as a mountain bicycle fork. The spring system comprises an adjustable first soft spring seated on top of a second firm spring having greater length than the first soft spring. A coupler assembly is positioned between two springs comprised of a threaded bolt threadedly received within a coupler. A spring adjustment means may comprise a knob connected to the threaded bolt through a non-round shaped shaft, wherein the threaded bolt is disposed within the first soft spring. As the knob rotates, the coupler is moved up along the threaded bolt, decreasing the length of the first soft spring, thereby increasing firm spring characteristics of the spring system. As the knob rotates in an opposite direction, the coupler moves down, increasing the length of the first soft spring, thereby increasing soft spring characteristics of the spring system.

Bicycle frame with rear passive suspension

InactiveUS6932371B2Maintaining and improving rigidityPreserve and improve handlingPassenger cyclesWheel based transmissionVehicle frameRoad surface
A bicycle frame (10) having a rear passive suspension system configured to elastically deflect predominantly in a vertical direction under normal cycling loads so as to better isolate the rider from road-surface irregularities and roughness, while simultaneously maintaining or improving rigidity in other directions so as to preserve or improve handling. The frame (10) has a pair of upper chain stays (18) that control the rear wheel motion rigidly in five of the six degrees of freedom with stiffness comparable to existing road, cyclocross, hybrid, city, or hardtail mountain bicycle designs, while simultaneously allowing deflection of the tubular members and a significant amount of vertical movement of the rear wheel for ride compliance in order to improve comfort, handling, and safety.

Mountain bicycle having improved frame geometry

A bicycle frame set with front and rear suspension systems, where a seat point is defined by an intersection of a central axis of the seat post with a top surface of the seat, and a seat tube angle is defined as an acute angle formed between a first line parallel with the ground surface and extending through the seat point and a second line extending from the crank axis to the seat point. An initial seat position is defined when the suspension systems are in an uncompressed state. The frame is configured such that in the initial seat position the second line is located at least about 575 mm from the crank axis and the seat tube angle is at least 75.5 degrees.

Folding bicycle constructed from plate frame elements

A bicycle frame design using plateframe structural elements for a high performance, full suspension bicycle having the ability to fold up in a package of compact size is provided. The main frame is formed by opposed plate frame elements (1, 2), patterned in the ergonomic dimensions and component arrangements therefrom used for contemporary mountain bikes. The patterned plate frame elements (1, 2) are cut from plate stock in a way that locates and mounts the operative elements in positions required for bike function. Such plate frame structure is of modular, lightweight, and weldless construction. A mechanically simple, lightweight rear shock absorbing system (7, 8, 9) is incorporated. The design routes cables in an internal arrangement, separating them from rider or other attached components or accessories on the inboard side of the plateframe structure. Overall geometry and dimensions of this configuration are adjustable to provide a universal fit for riders of various sizes. The opposed plate frame elements can be separate plates structures, or can be formed by folding a single blank having therein both opposed plate frame elements.

Flared Grip for Bicycle or Motorcycle Handlebar

InactiveUS20140116196A1Good grip and controlQuick transitionMechanical apparatusSteering deviceThrottle controlWrist strain
A flared or bell shaped motorcycle / bicycle handgrip which improves the design of handgrips, more specifically handgrips for mountain bike type bicycles and motorcycles with clip-on handlebars. Clip-ons are comprised of two separate short handles which are attached directly to the fork tubes, are placed lower than conventional handlebars, and are angled downward creating a lot of pressure on the wrists while riding. In order to alleviate wrist strain, and improve throttle control and steering inputs, the body of the present invention has an external surface which is flared. This flare spreads out the pressure and provides a larger surface for the palm to rest upon, and a larger surface area to grab onto, providing a more secure grip for mountain bikers. The flare is achieved by the base area progressively increasing in diameter, radially, the last half of the grip adjacent the second end, which is flat.
