Remote supervision system and method

A new and improved method for supervising and monitoring people from a remote location comprising the use of a communication system that builds upon telecommunications connections, computer interfaces, and information management via the internet. Strategically placed web cams, microphones, speakers, and display monitors are operatively linked to computers and information management means, and are used to permit a person in a remote location to view and listen to people in a plurality of active locations to verbally or visually prompt responses to inquiries or directives. The people in the active locations may also interact via these same interconnections to the person at the remote location. Touch screen technology may be included for purposes of automated supervision of tasks performed to accomplish a particular routine by the people in the active locations. Safety devices, such as smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and intrusion detectors, may also be installed to warn a remotely located supervisor, the police or fire departments, or emergency medical services.

This invention relates to the use and proper placement in a vehicle of a mobile wireless phone having cellular or GPS positioning capability and an impact sensor, e.g. triaxial accelerometer. Said sensor instantly detects a serious vehicular accident or theft, then and without driver or passenger intervention, automatically transmits an emergency appeal for assistance to appropriate Police / Emergency Medical Services (PEMS), or Fire Rescue units, apprizing the PEMS of said exigency and location. Otherwise, the integrated mobile phone system will function in a manner that is similar to a conventional wireless mobile phone. Optionally, the integrated mobile wireless phone may include means for receiving an emergency medical signal and automatically communicates an appeal for emergency assistance when the user having said unit and having a predisposed life threatening medical condition, encounters a life threatening anomaly, e.g., heart attack. System provides means to mitigate multi-vehicle collisions that are normally associated with environmental road hazards fog, ice, etc., by instantly alerting authorities and / or drivers in the region of the location of said hazard when an accident occurs.

Method using a global server for providing patient medical histories to assist in the delivery of emergency medical services

An Internet based method for assisting in the rapid delivery of medical information direct to the site at which emergency assistance is being performed uses a global database for warehousing patient history information, which is fetched over the Internet on demand. In one embodiment, medical providers use an access code carried by the injured party and without which access is denied. The access code may be carried as a barcode and as an imprinted number on a bracelet or on a card carried by the individual. Patient information is transmitted over a network, either wireline or wireless, the Internet or wide area network, to a computer or personal digital assistant available to emergency personnel. In one embodiment, patient history information access is determined through the use of an access code reader, by entering the patient access code manually or by entering the patient's name as a last resort. Additionally insurance information can be made available to shorten emergency room admission procedures. Lastly, the patient's card or bracelet can allow for patient history to be downloaded and saved. Thus in emergency situations, the information can be uploaded from the card or bracelet to the healthcare providers' viewing screens.

Emergency evacuation using autonomous driving

Methods and systems for detecting a medical emergency related to the driver of a vehicle are described. Various data, such as in-situ biophysical data of the driver, a medical history of the driver, and in-situ motion data of the vehicle, are employed to determine a possible medical emergency. In an event that a medical emergency is detected, the system determines the severity of the emergency andtakes appropriate control of the vehicle. If the medical emergency is not life-threatening, the system may drive the vehicle to a safe area, park the vehicle, and then request help from emergency service providers (e.g., ambulance and police). If the medical emergency is severe (e.g., life-threatening), the system may transition the vehicle to an EMS (Emergency Medical Service)-privileged vehicleand autonomously drive the vehicle to an emergency service provider.
