Cosmetic compositions

Antiperspirant compositions herein comprise an antiperspirant active, together with a carrier and a structurant for the carrier which comprises an organic wax having a melting point of from 40 to 90° C. of which at least 60% of the weight of the wax is provided by at least one aliphatic ester satisfying the formula:in which n is from 9 to 39 and m is from 0 to 35 to form a solid or a soft solid. The compositions can be anhydrous, in the form of a suspension of antiperspirant active, or can comprise aqueous emulsions. The formulations structured by the selected waxes provide lower visible deposits on topical application compared with conventional wax-structured formulations and the waxes are effective at structuring / thickening at a proportion below that in conventional wax-structured formulations. It is especially desirable to employ emulsion formulations comprising a continuous phase which comprises from 10 to 35% volatile silicone oil, and from 5 to 15% non-volatile hydrophobic oil, from 40 to 75% of ta disperse aqueous phase which contains from 1 to 35% of an antiperspirant or deodorant active, from 7 to 25% of a wax structurant, from 0.1 to 10% of an emulsifier, and preferably contains up to 5% insoluble particulate materials, % s being by weight based on the composition.

Low-viscosity opacifiers without anionic surface-active agents

An emulsifier mixture for use in a wax-based opacifier composition is comprised of: (a) an alkyl and / or alkenyl oligoglycoside; (b) a fatty acid partial glyceride and optionally (c) at least one amphoteric surfactant, with the proviso that the ratio by weight of (a) and optionally (c) to (b) is between 6:1 and 3:1 and wherein the composition is free from anionic surfactants.

Emulsifier composition and transparent or translucent micro emulsions containing said emulsifier composition

The disclosed invention relates to an emulsifier composition containing hydrophilic and lipophilic emulsifiers, characterized in that the hydrophilic emulsifier is selected from at least one of the compounds of group (A) which consists of (A.1) products of the addition of 8 to 30 moles ethylene oxide onto C16-22 fatty alcohols, (A.2) products of the addition of 5 to 60 moles ethylene oxide onto C12-18 fatty acid triglycerides, (A.3) products of the addition of 10 to 30 moles ethylene oxide onto sorbitan mono-C12-18-fatty acid esters, (A.4) products of the addition of 10 to 30 moles ethylene oxide onto C8-18 fatty acid partial glycerides, and (A.5) products of the addition of 1 to 10 moles ethylene oxide and 1 to 5 moles propylene oxide onto C10-18 fatty alcohols; and the lipophilic emulsifier is selected from at least one of the compounds of group (B) which consists of (B.1) mono- and diesters of C16-18 fatty acids with glycerol and (B.2) C16-22 fatty alcohols, with the proviso that, based on the total quantity of hydrophilic emulsifier, at least 38% by weight of the compounds selected from group (A) are emulsifiers formed by addition of at least 20 moles ethylene oxide and that the hydrophilic emulsifier is present in a quantity of 65 to 80% by weight, based on the total quantity of hydrophilic and lipophilic emulsifiers. The disclosed invention also includes a microemulsion containing the emulsifying agent. The emulsifying agent and emulsifiers containing it can be used, particularly, in cosmetic preparations and in the production of deodorizing compositions.

Multi-portion antiperspirant composition

Disclosed is a non-flowable anhydrous topical antiperspirant composition comprising a first portion and a second portion contiguous with the first portion. The first portion is semi-opaque to opaque and comprises a first hydrophobic carrier vehicle and a first gellant and has a particulate antiperspirant active suspended therein. The second portion is translucent to transparent and comprises a second hydrophobic carrier vehicle and a second gellant. Preferably, the second hydrophobic carrier vehicle has an average refractive index that approximately matches the refractive index of the second gellant. Ideally, for greater translucency the second portion will be substantially free of antiperspirant salt and / or other opacifying materials. Preferably, the first hydrophobic carrier vehicle also has an average refractive index that approximately matches the refractive index of the first gellant. Even more preferably, the second hydrophobic carrier vehicle and second gellant are comprised of substantially the same materials in substantially the same proportions as the first hydrophobic carrier vehicle and first gellant.
