System and Method for Providing a Suspended Personal Radiation Protection System

An improved personal radiation protection system that substantially contours to an operator's body is suspended from a suspension means. The garment is operable to protect the operator from radiation. The suspension means is operable to provide constant force and allows the operator to move freely in the X, Y and Z planes simultaneously, such that the protective garment, face shield, illumination means or other attachments integrated the system are substantially weightless to the operator. A face shield and arm cover can also be incorporated with the system, such that the face shield and arm cover are substantially weightless to the operator. The suspension means may be mounted to the ceiling, a vertical wall, the floor, or on a mobile platform.

Convertible Headboard Table Apparatus and Method of Use

A wall mounted headboard capable of storing and deploying a spring loaded table. The apparatus is comprised of a headboard pivotally connected to a first table section and assisted by a plurality of gas springs. The first table section is pivotally hinged to a second table section. The hinges between the table sections are hidden thus the table surface is free from anything disturbing a smooth surface. The weight of the second table section is offset by a plurality of torsion spring assemblies. The torsion spring assemblies are comprised of a torsion spring slidingly engaged in brackets mounted to each table section. The torsion spring assemblies allow a single user to move the second table section easily with minimal effort whether deploying or storing the table. The operation of storing or deploying the table can be performed from either side of the bed without walking around to the opposite side.

Convertible dental instrument

A self-contained and convertible dental instrument system includes both a lighted mirror and a direct illuminator. A hand piece has a handle section, including a battery in a housing, and a dual attachment section to receive a mirror and a light source. The illumination can be by reflection by said mirror or directly upon removal of the mirror from alignment with the light source. The handle and attachment sections preferably form a Y with the handle section reduced in size for balance and enhanced manipulation. The light source is an LED, is connected through wires in the hand piece to the battery and is controlled by a switch on the battery housing. A lens for the LED is attached by a snap-on adapter. For close contact illumination in the dental cavity, the lens includes a translucent rod, also attached by an adapter. The mirror and rod are rotatable for angular positioning to improve the illumination and the viewing.

Waterproof counterweighted pit lid

An aircraft servicing pit that defines a subsurface chamber below a surface across which aircraft travel when not airborne is formed of a prefabricated pit body atop which a pit lid is mounted for rotation. Within the enclosure of the pit beneath the surface across which the aircraft travel a counterweight system is connected by gears to pit lid supporting arms. The pit lid supporting arms have proximal ends rigidly joined to pit lid gears, which are meshed with counterweight gears rigidly joined to counterweight arms supporting counterweights within the enclosure of the pit. The pit lid and counterweight arms move in counterrotation when the pit lid is opened and closed, with the gravitational force acting upon the counterweights acting in opposition to the force of gravity upon the pit lid. By locating the lid hinge axis of rotation beneath the rim of the frame in which the pit lid is seated when closed, it is possible to provide the pit lid with a resilient gasket extending about its entire peripheral edge. Consequently, an aircraft servicing pit is provided which has a counterbalanced pit lid that may be sealed watertight within a surrounding frame.

Ankle holster with foot orthosis and exoskeleton

The present invention contemplates a variety of apparatuses for carrying and concealing a weapon holster on a lower leg. A device is provided that offloads weight associated with a leg-carried weapon and eliminates torque forces caused by walking with said weapon. Supplies or alternative weapons can also be carried. The device includes an anterior exoskeleton bracket and, in some embodiments, a foot orthosis. The holster is mounted near the top of the device. The exoskeleton, attaching to the foot orthosis or a shoe / boot, provides ankle support and offloads the weight of the weapon. The exoskeleton has a two-hinge system for flexibility and adjustability. Additionally, the exoskeleton attaches to the shoe / boot by one of several embodiments, including a simple L-bracket, a U-bracket wrapping around the heel, and a clip-on bracket wrapping under the sole. The orthosis is customized to a carrier's foot, providing comfort and offsetting the weight of the weapon.
