Breakaway track system for an overhead door

An overhead garage door (10) includes a plurality of panels (11) each carrying rollers (12) which ride in a track assembly (15). The track assembly (15) includes a generally vertically positionable component (16), a generally horizontally positionable component (17), and an arcuate transitional component (18) positioned between the vertical component (16) and the horizontal component (17). The vertical component (16) is generally U-shaped in end profile having a base portion (22) with branches (20, 21) extending from the edges thereof. The vertical component (16) is provided with a plurality of spaced separating systems (25), each of which includes a web (26) extending across the base portion (22) and the slots (28, 29) in the branches (20, 21). A selected portion of the length of the vertical component (16) may be removed by inserting a tool in the slots (28, 29) of one of the separating systems (25) and twisting it to break the webs (30, 31) adjacent to the slots (28, 29). Then by bending that portion on the web (26), it will breakaway to provide a vertical component (16) of the desired length.

Snap in cable connector

A snap in locking cable connector is composed of two mating pieces that snap together and provide a connector for armored or metal clad electrical conducts. One piece includes a die cast member including a smooth outer cylindrical section having an inner diameter that may accommodate a spring steel adaptor with flanges to hold the spring steel adaptor in place. The spring steel adaptor is used in conjunction with an electrical junction box to fix the location of the locking cable connector with respect to the junction box. Another piece includes a spring steel locking ring provided to receive an armored cable and lock into the die cast member. The spring steel locking ring has tangs allowing unidirectional insertion into the die cast member and restricting withdrawal motion from the die cast member. The spring steel locking ring also includes oppositely directed tangs to permit reception of the armored cable in one direction and restrict its movement in the reverse direction.

Axial door operator

The present application discloses an axial operator that is configured for use with a door assembly. The axial operator comprises a rotatable operator output member that rotates about an operator axis, the operator output member being constructed and arranged to be operatively connected within the door assembly such that the operator output axis extends generally vertically. An electric motor has a rotatable motor output member that rotates about the operator axis. The motor is constructed and arranged to selectively rotate the motor output member about the operator axis. A reduction transmission is connected between the motor output member and the operator output member. The reduction transmission is constructed and arranged such that the transmission rotates the operator output member at a lower rotational speed than a rotational speed at which the motor rotates the motor output member and applies a higher torque to the operator output member than a torque which the motor applies to the motor output member. The reduction transmission comprises (a) an orbit gear, (b) a planet gear carrier, and (c) a planet gear. The motor is adapted to be communicated to a controller so as to receive a door moving signal therefrom and being further adapted to selectively rotate the motor output member in response to receiving the door moving signal to thereby rotate the operator output member so as to move the door panel with respect to the doorway as aforesaid.

Shutter for closing openings with pivotal shutter elements

A shutter for closing openings with pivotal shutter elements, the rotational axes of which are arranged parallel to each other. Better sealing is achieved in that the shutter elements consist of at least two wings that are solidly joined together and arranged almost parallel to each other. The wings of the shutter elements are oriented substantially parallel to an imaginary plane of the opening, thus closing it on both sides, in a first position and substantially normal to the plane of the opening, thus clearing said opening, in a second position.

Two-piece track system

The present invention is directed toward a track assembly comprising two nested tracks, an inner track and outer track. The assembly is designed so that the outside width of the outer track is equal to or less than the outside width of the inner track to present a substantially flush external surface for attachment of exterior sheathing elements when the assembly is used in an external wall. The system may further comprise a strap or series of engaging surfaces on the inner and outer tracks that generally restrain the inner track relative to the outer track.

Hinge with an anti-bump feature

The hinge for a piece of portable electronic equipment with a cover and a base has a keyed pivot pin, a stationary leaf, a washer, a rotating positioning element, a stationary positioning element, a biasing member, and a fastener. The washer, rotating positioning element, stationary positioning element and biasing member are sequentially mounted on the keyed pivot pin and are held in place with the fastener. The rotating positioning element has detents corresponding to and simultaneously engaging protrusions on the stationary positioning element when the hinge is closed. Because the detents and protrusions are not symmetrically oriented respectively on the rotating and stationary positioning elements, the detents will only engage the protrusions in one position, a closed position. The protrusions on the stationary positioning element press against the rotating positioning element and hold the hinge open at any desired angle.

Window latch system

A sliding latch and locking mechanism, for windows and doors, whereby the latching mechanism provides a means for discrete position retention of a sliding window or door and provides an increased measure of security. The latching system combines four modes of operation i.e. lock, close only, raise (free sliding), and tilt to provide angular pivoting of window sash, that allow three levels of security, i.e. fully locked, close only with discrete positions maintained, and raise or lower without discrete positions maintained (free sliding). The latching system security levels are accomplished by means of a selector knob positioned to the desired mode of operation. Also, a mechanism is integrated to provide interlocking in the fully closed position with the upper or adjacent window or door sash.

Device for connecting a displaceable element to a guide device

PCT No. PCT / CH98 / 00274 Sec. 371 Date Feb. 23, 1999 Sec. 102(e) Date Feb. 23, 1999 PCT Filed Jun. 23, 1998 PCT Pub. No. WO98 / 59140 PCT Pub. Date Dec. 30, 1998Device for connecting a displaceable element, especially a glass, metal or wooden panel to a guiding device that is guided in a rail. The device includes first and second fixing members which each contain outer panels and fitting, elements which can be interconnected by an axle. The fitting elements are inserted into a cutout section on the edge of the displaceable element and interconnected. The fitting elements encompass a connection screw which can be connected to the guide device, the connection screw having a screw shaft with a screw head, a locking element and a thread. The fitting element of the first fixing member has a channel for receiving the screw shaft, the channel having channel walls, a trough for receiving the screw head and a cavity for receiving the securing element. The locking element can be stopped by a stop screw. The fitting element of the second fixing member has a recess for receiving the channel walls and an opening through which the screw head can be accessed. The assembled device can be adjusted by loosening the stop screws by a few turns and turning the connection screw until the displaceable element is set at the desired height. The stop screws are then re-tightened. The locking element is part of the connection screw and is encompassed in the device so that the top edge of the displaceable element can be drawn practically up to the rail.

Suspension and sill system for sliding members

A panel or door suspension system used to hang sliding panels or doors. The panel members are hung by an upper bearing assembly with bearings on each side of the longitudinal axis of the panel thereby allowing the weight of the door to bear wholly on the upper bearings and to act centrally and downwardly between the bearings thereby preventing a moment on the bearings. A wedge member attached to the upper portion of the panel allows for vertical adjustment of the panel relative to the bearings and the door frame. A sill assembly beneath the panel allows for stable sliding operation of the panel member, provides for debris drainage and facilitates servicing of the members comprising the sill assembly.
