Washable wearable biosensor

A washable, wearable biosensor that can gather sensor data, communicate the sensed data by wireless protocols, and permits the analysis of sensed data in real-time as a person goes about their normal lifestyle activities. The biosensor can be worn in multiple positions, can be put on or removed quickly without having to apply or remove gels and adhesives, and provides a snug, comfortable fit to gather data with minimal motion artifacts. The textile, wearable device can support integrated photoplethysmography, skin conductance, motion, and temperature sensors in a small wearable package. The supported sensors may be coupled to utilization devices by channel-sharing wireless protocols to enable the transmission of data from multiple users and multiple sensors (e.g. both sides of body, wrists or hands and feet, or multiple people). An on-board processor, or the receiving utilization device, can map patterns of the physiological and motion data to signals or alerts such as a likely seizure, drug craving, or other states that the wearer may exhibit or experience. The sensor data may be sent by wireless transmission and received by a mobile phone or other personal digital device, a computer, a favorite toy, or another wearable device. The sensors may include multiple photoplethysmographs and / or one or more EDAs which perform a time-domain measurement of skin conductance

Optimizing and controlling the energy consumption of a building

Described herein are methods and systems, including computer program products, for optimizing and controlling the energy consumption of a building. A first computing device generates a set of thermal response coefficients for the building based on energy characteristics of the building and weather data associated with the location of the building. The first computing device predicts an energy response of the building based on the set of thermal response coefficients and forecasted weather associated with the location of the building. The first computing device selects minimal energy requirements of the building based on an energy consumption cost associated with the building. The first computing device determines one or more temperature set points for the building based on the energy response and the minimal energy requirements. The first computing device transmits the one or more temperature set points to a thermostat of the building.

Optimizing and controlling the energy consumption of a building

Described herein are methods and systems, including computer program products, for optimizing and controlling a building's energy consumption and comfort. A computing device receives measurements from a plurality of sensors, at least some of which are located inside the building, where the measurements include temperature readings and comfort characteristics. The computing device generates a set of thermal response coefficients based on energy characteristics of the building, the measurements from the sensors, and weather data associated with the building's location. The computing device predicts an energy response of the building based on the set of thermal response coefficients and forecasted weather. The computing device selects minimal energy requirements of the building based on an energy consumption cost associated with the building and determines energy control points based on the energy response and the minimal energy requirements. The computing device transmits the energy control points to comfort devices in the building.

Car seat with adjustable armrest mechanism

A baby car seat capable of having the incline angles of the armrests adjusted, includes a base, a pair of armrests, an inclined-angle adjusting member and a resilient element. The lower end of the armrests and an inclined-angle adjusting member catch each other in order to secure the armrests at particular inclined angles, and the armrests are pivotally connected to the base at both sides thereof. The resilient element is disposed between the inclined-angle adjusting member and base, and is capable of providing resilience to make the inclined-angle adjusting member maintain its position relative to the lower ends of the armrests. The user can move the inclined-angle adjusting member from outside of the base to press the resilient element and temporarily separate the resilient element from the lower ends of the armrests. In this way, the armrests may be adjusted to a desired angle that is comfortable for the baby. As the user releases the inclined-angle adjusting member, the resilience of the resilient element will return the resilient element to its former position, thereby maintaining the inclined-angle adjusting member's position relative to the lower ends of the armrests, securing the position of the armrests at the adjusted incline angle.

Work comfort evaluating device and work comfort evaluating method

A work comfort evaluating device is a device for evaluating a level of comfort of work by measuring myoelectric potentials of plural muscles when the work is done by antagonistic activities of the muscles. The device has a pair of detecting sensors, an amplifier, a signal processing part, a work-load intensity calculating part, and an evaluation part. The sensors sense myoelectric potentials of the muscles at a time of the work. The signal processing part calculates a synchronous contraction intensity of the muscles by using myoelectric potential waveforms. The work-load intensity calculating part calculates a level of a work load intensity in the work. The evaluation part evaluates a level of comfort of the work by normalizing the synchronous contraction intensity by the level of the work load intensity calculated.
