Hearing aid with Anti-occlusion effect techniques and ultra-low frequency response

An occluding hearing aid having anti-occlusion effect techniques combined with at least one improvement which, in the preferred embodiment, includes enhancement of acoustic output in the lower-midrange and bass frequency regions, typically between substantially 40 and 500 Hz, which regions are crucial for natural reproduction of multimedia sound and music but are not optimally processed, and generally not provided at all, in prior art hearing aids in order to avoid exacerbation of the occlusion effect. In specific embodiments, the hearing aid of the present invention includes primary or first microphone exposed to external sound plus a secondary or second microphone exposed to sound within an ear canal, in which a signal produced by the secondary microphone is applied as negative feedback to an input of a non-gain controlling signal process and amplifier driving a hearing aid receiver (transducer), whereby, it has been determined by the present inventor, the occlusion effect may be substantially canceled. The hearing aid further comprises at least one of ten combinational improvements each providing substantial performance benefits over known techniques and devices.

An apparatus for reducing baffle vibration includes a baffle that is subject to vibration. A first transducer that is seated in the baffle includes a first diaphragm that is acoustically coupled to a listening area in a vehicle and also acoustically coupled to a cavity in the vehicle. A first input signal applied to the first transducer causes the first diaphragm to move in a first direction, thereby generating an acoustic output. A second transducer is mechanically coupled to the first transducer. The second transducer includes a second diaphragm that is acoustically coupled to the first diaphragm and also acoustically coupled to the listening area. A second input signal applied to the second transducer causes the second diaphragm to move in a second direction that is substantially opposite to the first direction to reduce a vibration imparted to the baffle while substantially maintaining the acoustic output.

Baffle vibration reducing

An electro-acoustic transducer includes a magnet assembly having a first magnetic flux gap and a second magnetic flux gap. A first voice coil is positioned in the first magnetic flux gap. A first diaphragm is mechanically coupled to the first voice coil and to a frame. The first voice coil moves the first diaphragm in a first direction in response to receiving a first input signal. A second voice coil is positioned in the second magnetic flux gap. A second diaphragm is mechanically coupled to the second voice coil and to the frame. The second voice coil moves the second diaphragm in a second direction that is substantially opposite to the first direction in response to receiving a second input signal. The movement of the second diaphragm reduces a vibration imparted to the frame by the movement of the first diaphragm.

Low cost broad range loudspeaker and system

A loudspeaker has a diaphragm with a voice coil disposed about its perimeter and extending in a gap into which the flux of an annular rare earth magnet is focused. An opening behind the diaphragm communicates through the speaker frame. The voice coil may have two or more windings that are connected in parallel, and may, e.g., be layered on top of one another, so that the impedance of the coil, as well as its depth in the front / back direction of motion, are low. The voice coil is preferably implemented using a polyamide form or bobbin, which has patterned lead-in conductors embedded therein to bring power to wire windings on the perimeter of the coil. The lead-in conductors extend to, or through, the central opening of a ring magnet, providing a robust ribbon input connection.

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an organic light emitting display device which directly vibrates an organic light emitting display panel to generate sound, and includes: an organic light emitting display panel including a light emitting layer including an organic light emitting material layer and an encapsulation layer disposed at one side of the light emitting layer; and a sound generating actuator in direct contact with the organic light emitting display panel to vibrate the organic light emitting display panel to generate sound. Especially, the organic light emitting display panel is a bottom emission type device, and thus can prevent generation of a weighted color mixing phenomenon in a wide viewing angle at the time of panel vibration and reduce the thickness or weight of the panel to thereby enhance the sound generation characteristic.

System and method for sound augmentation of acoustic musical instruments

A sound capture device is affixed to an acoustic instrument to capture the natural sound output of the instrument. The captured sound signal is routed to an electronic sound augmentation system that is configured to augment the captured sound with spatial sound effects such as reverb, echo, delay, etc. The processed and augmented sound is then reproduced via a vibrating driver that has been affixed to the body of the acoustic instrument. This creates a situation where the body of the musical instrument, responding to a series of vibrations produced by the vibrating driver, acts as a speaker component, reproducing a rich augmented sound output that comprises the sum of the sound produced by the original sound production capabilities of the acoustical instrument plus the added augmented or enhanced sound effects.

Modular loudspeaker

The present invention relates to a modular loudspeaker, primarily intended to be used as a studio monitor and comprising a broadband module for radiating a first frequency range with a lower limiting frequency sufficiently low to provide a fully acceptable reproduction in many situations and furthermore provided with a high frequency radiating unit (and possibly also a mid frequency radiating unit), the directional characteristics of which relative to the cabinet of the module can be controlled. The modular loudspeaker according to the invention furthermore comprises one or more low frequency module(s) for radiating a second frequency range which may at least partially overlap said first frequency range for either increasing the acoustical output at the lower end of the frequency range radiated by the broadband module or for extending the lower limiting frequency of the complete modular loudspeaker below the lower limiting frequency of the broadband module. The modular loudspeaker according to the invention is furthermore provided with means for transmission of information about the presence—and number—of low frequency modules applied in order to automatically change appropriate signal processing parameters in order to obtain a given target response of the complete modular loudspeaker.

Bracing and bridge system for stringed instruments

The invention pertains to improvements in stringed instruments, particularly plucked and / or strummed instruments with sound boxes and the string support structure of same. The invention also pertains to enhancing the sound output of the instrument. A string support system that is structurally independent of the sound box eliminates the necessity to brace, or otherwise reinforce the soundboard to resist the substantial tension of the strings, thus substantially reducing the soundboards stiffness and mass, and greatly improving its ability to respond to the vibration of the strings. Furthermore, the invention enables the transmission of vibrating string energy to the soundboard without imposing any stresses upon said soundboard that are due to the static tension of the strings. The invention eliminates tension-induced distortion and damage to the sound box that is common to traditionally constructed instruments.

The low end sound that is produced by the unified components are coherent, tight, and well defined. The acoustically high sound conductivity material has a specific gravity on the order of at least 2, and preferably at least the specific gravity on the order of the specific gravity of granite. Advantageously, the specific gravity is at least four, and can be six or higher.
