System and method to facilitate speech enabled user interfaces by prompting with possible transaction phrases

The invention relates to a voice enabled user interface which correlates, at development time or at run time, utterances, by a caller who is interacting with the user interface, with transaction phrases in a transaction phrase data structure, such as through the use of synonyms, descriptions of the transactions, comparing selected words, and phrases having one or a plurality of word in common. The user interface employs the results of the correlation to calculate an offering to the caller which may include a list of transaction phrases, a list of correlation results, a prompt for the caller to speak additional information to the user interface, or a combination of the two. The user interface may assess whether a number of transaction phrases in a determined list is small enough to be suitable for presentation and, if not, enable a correlating step to be repeated to yield a smaller number of transaction phrases in the correlation result. The invention may be employed in a variety of applications including but not limited to banking and other financial applications services.

Data structure for creating, scoping, and converting to unicode data from single byte character sets, double byte character sets, or mixed character sets comprising both single byte and double byte character sets

A data structure for specifying the types of constants whose character values are to be converted to Unicode; for specifying which code page or pages are used for specifying the character encodings used in the source program for writing the character strings to be converted to Unicode; and that can be used to perform conversions from SBCS, mixed SBCS / DBCS, and pure DBCS character strings to Unicode. A syntax suitable for specifying character data conversion from SBCS, mixed SBCS / DBCS, and pure DBCS representation to Unicode utilizes an extension to the conventional constant subtype notation. In converting the nominal value data to Unicode, currently relevant SBCS and DBCS code pages are used, as specified by three levels or scopes derived from either global options, from local AOPTIONS statement specifications, or from constant-specific modifiers. Global code page specifications apply to the entire source program. These global specifications allow a programmer to declare the source-program code page or code pages just once. These specifications then apply to all constants containing a request for conversion to Unicode. Local code page specifications apply to all subsequent source-program statements. These local specifications allow the programmer to create groups of statements containing Unicode conversion requests, all of which use the same code page or code pages for their source-character encodings. Code page specifications that apply to individual constants allow a detailed level of control over the source data encodings to be used for Unicode conversion. The conversion of source data to Unicode may be implemented inherently to the translator (assembler, compiler, or interpreter) wherein it recognizes and parses the complete syntax of the statement in which the constant or constants is specified, and performs the requested conversion. Alternatively, an external function may be invoked by a variety of source language syntaxes which parses as little or as much of the source statement as its implementation provides, and returns the converted value for inclusion in the generated machine language of the object program. Alternatively, the conversion may be provided by the translator's macro instruction definition facility.

Translating a non-unicode string stored in a constant into unicode, and storing the unicode into the constant

Provided are a method, system, and program for creating a string of Unicode characters stored in a memory of a computer. A constant is created whose data type is a non-Unicode data type, wherein the constant specifies non-Unicode data to convert to Unicode. A string of non-Unicode characters are stored in the constant which is stored in the memory of the computer. A specification of a code page is retrieved in which the non-Unicode character string is encoded. The non-Unicode character string stored in the constant is translated into a Unicode character string responsive to the specification of the code page and the Unicode character string is stored in the constant stored in the memory of the computer.

System and Method for Developing Diameter Applications

A system and method for developing Diameter applications are provided. The system and method extend the application server servlet model to support Diameter applications. A “base protocol” servlet is provided that handles the basic Diameter protocol functionality. Base application servlets are provided for each Diameter interface (for example, an “Sh” base servlet for the IMS “Sh” interface). These servlets are base classes for application code. The base application servlets implement additional semantics on top of the base protocol servlet to support additional attribute-value pair semantics. With the system and method, Diameter servlets share the same ServletContext as HTTP and SIP servlets. This mechanism facilitates communication between the various application entities and facilitates generation of converged applications.

Sound-effect foot pedal for electric/electronic musical instruments

The CHOPPER has a unique treadle design which allows a better utilization of space in order to accommodate the control functions in a compact foot-pedal sound effect. In the case of the CHOPPER, the space is required to allow the multiple control functions required to achieve delay (echo) emulation, which is a new and unique sound effect generated by this product. The sound effect is controlled by means of a foot treadle that can uniquely control multiple parameters. The rate at which the foot treadle controls the effect is by means of a specific and unique optical coupling. To enable precise control of the effect, there is a visible read out of the modulation frequency which has not been achieved before in a foot pedal. Further, the modulation frequency can be controlled by a MIDI sync code which is also unique in a foot-pedal format.

Label printing apparatus

A label printing apparatus is provided into which a configuration of a label-affix object and a value defining the configuration, for example a value of a diameter in a case of a circular cylinder, are input. In accordance with an operational expression of the input value of the diameter and a length of an outer circumference of the input configuration, a length of a label to be wound around an outer circumference of the label-affix object is calculated. Feeding a tape by the length from a tape cassette, a printing is performed to the tape so that respective characters of a string of characters or symbols such as a name separately input are evenly arranged in the determined length. Therefore, in accordance with the outer circumference of the label-affix object, the length of the label can be automatically set up for the printing. Further, an overlap allowance is added, as necessary.

Security system and method with modular display of information

A user-centric management application system and method for a security system that conceptualizes the security devices and the tasks to perform on the security devices as separate objects with common properties and behavior. Operators of the system create abstract containers, called dockviews, which the operator adds objects to in order to perform specific tasks. Because the operator assigns user access to dockviews and objects, the system tailors system access for both application users and tenants of the security system based on policy objectives. Dockviews have the ability to open in separate application windows to support priority display and isolation of critical management tasks. The system provides integrated user administration, event management and reports capability, a consistent “look and feel,” and system-wide automated event notification via a watchlist window.

Method for creating map data and map data utilization apparatus

Map data includes, for each of multiple links used for representing a road in a map, a link record and a speed limit record for a certain link. The link records and the speed limit records of the multiple links for representing a road are collected to form separate data lists of respective attribute types, that is, a link record data list and a speed limit record data list, instead of collecting records by a unit of each link. The map data structured as separate attribute data lists of respective attribute data types for links in the map data, for example, establishes inter-attribute data association between different attribute data types for the certain link based on the arrangement orders of the respective attribute data types in the data list indicative of the same arrangement order of the multiple links.

Display device

The present invention aims to provide a display device capable of displaying an image in a color maintaining a hue and a tone expected from an input signal. In a field-sequential liquid crystal display device, when a red image is displayed, red light is transmitted in the first subframe period, and further, green light and blue light are transmitted in the second and third subframe periods, respectively. Therefore, the blue component of an input signal is adjusted such that the transmittance of the liquid crystal panel is at a predetermined value even in the third subframe period. As a result, the hue of an image displayed on the liquid crystal panel is the same as or almost the same as the hue of red expected from the input signal. Moreover, the color of red displayed on the liquid crystal panel maintains the tone value of the color expected from the input signal.
