System and method for determining sleep stage

Methods and apparatus monitor health by detection of sleep stage. For example, a sleep stage monitor may access sensor data signals related to bodily movement and respiration movements. At least a portion of the detected signals may be analyzed to calculate respiration variability. The respiration variability may include variability of respiration rate or variability of respiration amplitude. A processor may then determine a sleep stage based on a combination bodily movement and respiration variability. The determination of sleep stages may distinguish between deep sleep and other stages of sleep, or may differentiate between deep sleep, light sleep and REM sleep. The bodily movement and respiration movement signals may be derived from one or more sensors, such as non-invasive sensor (e.g., a non-contact radio-frequency motion sensor or a pressure sensitive mattress).

Ophthalmic lens with a neural frequency detection system

The present invention relates generally to an ophthalmic device capable of monitoring neural frequencies and correlating the measured frequencies them to specific brain activity / functions. In some embodiments, profiles specific to the user of the ophthalmic device can be pre-programmed to tailor a brain activity / function profiles according to a user. Based on the determined brain activity / function from the correlation, a signal may be generated to provide feedback to the user. The signal may be transmitted to the user in one or more form. For example, the signal may be outputted to a wireless device in wireless communication with the ophthalmic device, and / or through an audible signal projected by an acoustic element, and / or a visual signal projected using a photon emitter, both which may be included in the ophthalmic device.

Mm-wave radar driver fatigue sensor apparatus

The present invention discloses a mm-wave radar sensor to be deployed in the vehicles for seat occupation detection applications. The key system relevant components are utilization of mm-wave integrated radar, specific planar high-gain antenna radiation pattern, and analyzing of the heartbeat and optionally also respiratory dynamics. The method of operation calculates probability of the seat occupation event regarding: detection of the passenger on the seat, detection of a baby or a child on the seat, detection of the presence of a baby or a child in the vehicle after the driver has left the vehicle, detection of the human or animal presence of intrusion in specific vehicle environment. In case that probability is above a predefined threshold, typically the interaction with vehicle control system is initiated using arbitrary automotive interfaces. Corresponding predefined actions are taken in that case. The predefined actions could be one or combination of the following: audio signal alerts to driver, inside cabin light condition change, engine operation condition change, opening of the windows or corresponding communication using arbitrary wireless means to outside vehicle environment. Optionally, the system is utilizing additional parameters like vehicle cabin temperature and/or timing information about engine stop and driver leaving the car. Preferably, the system is using 60 GHz or 77-79 GHz integrated radar front end working in Doppler operation mode, with 4×4 Tx and Rx planar radiation elements, with physical size typically in the range 4×2×1 cm, or smaller.

MM-wave radar driver fatigue sensor apparatus

The present invention discloses a mm-wave radar sensor to be deployed in the vehicles for sensing driver fatigue. The key system relevant components are utilization of mm-wave integrated radar, with specific planar high gain antenna radiation pattern, by analyzing at least two major biometric parameters of the drives simultaneously: heartbeat and respiratory dynamics. The method of operation calculates probability of the fatigue event. In case that probability is above a predefined threshold, the interaction with vehicle control system is initiated, using typical arbitrary automotive interfaces. Corresponding predefined actions are taken in that case. The predefined actions could be one or combination of the following: driver safety belt pulling, audio signal alerts to driver, vibration alert to driver, inside cabin light condition changes, engine operation condition change, corresponding communication using arbitrary wireless means to outside vehicle environment. Optionally, the system is utilizing additional driver imposed parameters like acceleration sensor information. Preferably, the system is using 60 GHz or 77-79 GHz integrated radar front end working in Doppler operation mode, with 4×4 Tx and Rx planar radiation elements, with physical size typically in the range 4×2×1 cm, or smaller.

Microstrip antenna structure and microwave imaging system using the same

A microstrip antenna structure is provided, which includes a substrate, a ring microstrip line and a signal transmission port. The substrate has opposite first and second surfaces. The ring microstrip line is disposed on the first surface of the substrate. The ring microstrip line has a short coupling gap ranged between 0.004λg and 0.06λg for forming a radiation bandwidth with high selectivity, where λg represents a guided wavelength of an electromagnetic wave in the ring microstrip line corresponding to a center frequency of the radiation bandwidth. The signal transmission port is disposed on the second surface of the substrate. The signal transmission port penetrates through the substrate and is electrically connected to the ring microstrip line.
