Hood latch for an engine compartment

PCT No. PCT / CA97 / 00941 Sec. 371 Date Aug. 16, 1999 Sec. 102(e) Date Aug. 16, 1999 PCT Filed Dec. 10, 1997 PCT Pub. No. WO98 / 26144 PCT Pub. Date Jun. 18, 1998A hood latch assembly (10) has a housing (14) having a mouth (13). A ratchet (16) is pivotally mounted within the housing (14) to cooperate with the mouth (13) to pivot between an open, a secondary closed and a primary closed condition for receiving, engaging and cinching a keeper of a striker (80). The ratchet (16) is biased to the open condition. A pivotally mounted primary pawl (18) is biased for engagement with the ratchet (16) to releasably retain the ratchet (16) in the primary closed condition. A pivotally mounted secondary pawl (62) is biased for engagement with the ratchet (16) to releasably retain the ratchet (16) in the secondary closed condition. The secondary pawl (62) has a release lever (20) which rotates between a deployed position and a retracted position. As the ratchet (16) engages the striker (80), the ratchet (16) will rotate in a latching sense from the open condition to the secondary closed condition. As the ratchet (16) further rotates from the secondary closed to the primary closed condition, fully engaging the striker (80), the secondary pawl (62) follows the ratchet (16), allowing the release lever (20) to rotate from a deployed position to a retracted position. Upon release of the primary engagement by disengaging the primary pawl (18), the ratchet (16) will rotate from the primary closed to the secondary closed condition. The secondary pawl (62) will follow the ratchet (16) rotating the release lever (20) from the retracted position to the deployed position. The operator then manipulates the release lever (20) to release the ratchet (16), allowing the ratchet (16) to rotate from the secondary closed to the open condition.

Outer door handle, especially for vehicles

An outer door handle for vehicles has a stationary housing in the vehicle door. The handle has a handle arm and acts on a lock arranged within the door. A pivotable latching member serves as a mass latching mechanism and makes the handle actuatable in a release position. Because of its inertia in a crash situation, the latching member reaches an active support position and blocks the handle. The pivot bearing for the latching member is located on the stationary housing. The movable handle arm has a shoulder. A counter shoulder is provided on the latching member. The folding movement path of the shoulder on the handle arm is intersected by the pivot movement path of the counter shoulder. In a crash situation the shoulder comes to rest against the counter shoulder. In the release position, the shoulder passes the counter shoulder upon handle actuation.

Apparatus for Opening and Closing Vehicle Door

There is provided an apparatus for opening and closing a vehicle door that is exceptionally durable and performs indications so that a person can reliably recognize a locked or unlocked state of a vehicle door. The apparatus for opening and closing a vehicle door comprises control means for recognizing the intention of a person to lock or unlock a vehicle door 6 and controlling the locking or unlocking of the vehicle door 6. The apparatus is characterized in comprising a door handle 2 with which the vehicle door 6 is opened or closed; an operation detector 3 provided to the door handle 2 in order to detect a state of the door handle 2 as operated by the person; an ornamental light part 40 that is provided so as to enclose a periphery of the operation detector 3, and is visible from the exterior of the door handle 2 during actuation of the operation sensor 3 by the person; and a light-emitting part 4 for illuminating the ornamental light part 40. The light-emitting part 4 is energized by the control means according to a controlled state in which the vehicle door 6 is locked or unlocked.

Modular vehicle door lock and latch system and method

A locking and latching system of modular construction in which some of the components of the system are pre-assembled prior to their installation into the structural framework of a vehicle door. The modular construction of the lock and latch system can include the outside and inside door handles, the outside and inside locks, the door latch itself, as well as linkages between these components. The modular components can further facilitate the assembly process by being of a design which simplifies the process of installing them into the structural framework of a vehicle door without requiring the use of specialized tools, thereby reducing the labor costs associated with assembly.

Double-insertion security door and externally-hung locking device

The invention discloses a double-insertion security door and externally-hung locking device, and relates to the field of security doors and mechanical security locks. In a technical scheme that two patented products, namely a double-insertion security door and a lock core-fixed cross-shaped mechanical security lock, are matched and combined for use, and a special driving connection way is also adopted. The double-insertion security door and externally-hung locking device is mainly characterized in that a lock is mounted inside a door leaf, and is separated from the side of the door leaf by a certain distance; a main lock latch and a lock tongue are independently mounted between the lock and the inner plate surface of the door leaf, and are movably connected with an extending part of a lock driving component only, namely are externally hung outside the lock body; the door leaf is unlocked and locked by rotating a handle integrally assembled with the lock movably and capable of idling, and the stroke of the main lock latch can be increased to more than double; only one knob is used for driving the locking device indoors, so that operation is simple and quick; the anti-prying and damage-preventing performance of the door leaf is also broken through while the lock cannot be unlocked technically and can resist forcible unlocking and damage.

Water gate locker

A water gate locker comprises a locker body, a bracket, a fastener-seat, a press-bolt, a position-ring, a nut. A position-slice is extended from one side of the locker body and a turning-axle is extended downward from the bottom of the locker body, and a thread is provided at the front end of the turning-axle, and a hole, with the upper portion larger than the lower, is provided on the locker body, and is penetrated through by a press-bolt, a screw-hole is provided at each side of the bracket, and a protrudent-cylinder is protruded upward from the middle of bracket, and an axle-hole is penetrated through the protrudent-cylinder, and two fastener-portions are penetrated beside the axle-hole, and a runner in an arc form with smaller diameter is penetrated between the two fastener-portions, a screw-hole is provided at each side of the fastener-seat, and a position-plate is extended upward from a side of the fastener-seat, and a position-runner is provided on a suitable portion of the position-plate, the turning-axle of the locker body is fitted in the axle-hole of the protrudent-cylinder of the bracket, and the locker body is integrated with the bracket via a nut, and the bottom end of the press-bolt is protruded from the runner of the protrudent-cylinder, and then a position-ring is combined with the bottom end of the press-bolt. Accordingly, the water gate locker according to the present invention is formed.
