50 results about "Keyboard controller" patented technology

In computing, a keyboard controller is a device that interfaces a keyboard to a computer. Its main function is to inform the computer when a key is pressed or released. When data from the keyboard arrives, the controller raises an interrupt (a keyboard interrupt) to allow the CPU to handle the input.

Computing device having a low power secondary processor coupled to a keyboard controller

This abstract has been included pursuant to Section 1.72(b) of the Rules for Patent and Trademark Cases, Title 37 of the Code of Federal Regulations. This abstract is intended only to enable the Patent and Trademark Office and the public to generally determine the nature of the technical disclosure. This abstract is not intended to aid in the interpretation of the scope of any claim. A portable computing device includes a keyboard controller that receives keystroke information as well as inputs from a graphical pointing device and conveys these to a main central processing unit. The keyboard controller additionally communicates with a battery module through a second interface in order to monitor and control the charging of the module. A low power secondary processor is interfaced to the keyboard controller through the second interface in order to receive keystroke information as well as information from the graphical pointing device. When the keyboard controller is instructed to do so, keystroke and graphical pointing information are conveyed exclusively to the secondary processor, thereby enabling the portable computing device to perform some functions without requiring the main central processing unit to be operational and thus operate in a low power mode.

Computer keyboard key scan shared matrix with an individual LED per key

Systems, devices, and methods for a shared matrix of shared row pins and / or column pins between a first array of keys and a second array of lights of a keyboard. A keyboard controller addresses the first array of keys and the second array of lights during a scanning period using the shared row pins and / or column pins. Each key is backlit by one or more lights of the second array of lights that may be individually controlled. The keyboard controller may drive the desired lights of a respective row while detecting key presses of the same row during the row interval using the shared row pins and / or column pins. In some embodiments, the keyboard controller may drive the desired lights of a row during driving interval of the row interval, and scan the keys of the row separately during a sensing interval of the row interval.

Keyboard apparatus integrated with touch input module

A keyboard apparatus integrated with a touch input module is disclosed, and the touch input module functions as a handwriting mode and a cursor mode. Therefore, an input apparatus with more convenient and integrated functions is provided. According to the preferred embodiment, a keyboard controller for processing and transferring keystroke signals is included, and the touch input module is integrated into the keyboard. Further, a mode switching circuit is used to switch the touch input module to the handwriting mode or the cursor mode. Still further, a micro-controller in the touch input module is used to transfer the signals to a computer system through the keyboard controller. In particular, the touch input module jointly uses a power module and a communication port with the keyboard.

Keyboard, input method thereof, computer and notebook computer

The invention provides a keyboard, an input method thereof, a computer and a notebook computer. The keyboard comprises a plurality of keys, a storage device and a keyboard controller, wherein the keys are arranged in different key regions which at least comprise a first key region, a second key region and a third key region which is a main key region, the first key region and the second key region are keypad regions and respectively arranged at the left side and the right side of the keyboard; the storage device is used for storing a first scan code table and a second scan code table which both correspond to the keys; the keyboard controller is used for selecting a corresponding relation among an instruction and the scan code tables according to a preset scan code table and using the scan code table corresponding to the input instruction, ten of at least ten keys in the first key region are defined as number keys when the first scan code table is used, and ten of at least ten keys in the second key region are defined as number keys when the second scan code table is used. The scheme can satisfy the requirements of users with different use habits on the keypad of by using the same keyboard, thereby bringing convenience for the users.

Keyboard with key conduction force adjusted according to requirements of user and adjusting method thereof

The invention relates to a keyboard with the key conduction force adjusted according to the requirements of a user and an adjusting method thereof. The keyboard comprises a plurality of keys. Each key is provided with a first key body and a keyboard controller. The keyboard controllers are used for generating first sensing values corresponding to the first key bodies after the first key bodies are pressed at first pressing forces, and the first sensing values are relevant to the first pressing forces in magnitude. The keyboard controllers are used for compensating the first sensing values by using first compensating values corresponding to the first key bodies so as to generate first adjusted sensing values. If the first adjusted sensing values are larger than a current threshold, the keyboard controllers confirm that the first key bodies are pressed and output first key codes corresponding to the first key bodies. By means of the keyboard and the adjusting method, the user can more flexibly grouping keyboard according to the requirements of the user and adjust actuation thresholds so as to set the key conduction force, and therefore the user can have better user experience when typing words or executing other application programs (such as computer games and the like).
