The present inventions is an abutment for use with a dental implant. The abutment comprises a prosthetic portion adapted to support a prosthesis thereon and an insert. The prosthetic portion has a subgingival end and a supragingival region for protruding beyond gingiva adjacent to the dental implant. The prosthetic portion has a passageway extending therethrough. The passageway includes an enlarged retention groove and non-round section. The insert extends into the passageway and engages the subgingival end of the prosthetic portion. The insert includes flexible retention fingers that, upon insertion into the passageway, initially contract before reaching the enlarged retention groove and then expand outwardly into the enlarged retention groove to hold the insert onto the prosthetic portion. The insert also has a non-round section for mating with the non-round section of the passageway.

A dental assembly for vertical attachment of an implant to a dental abutment for restorative dental procedures is disclosed. The implant includes a cylindrical body having an interior bore formed between a distal end and a proximal end. An abutment interface is formed on the proximal end of the cylindrical body. The interface includes a radial annular interior surface and a flat annular stop surface circumferentially bordering the interior bore. The assembly also includes an abutment including a stem and a post coupled to the stem. An interior bore is formed through the stem and the post. The abutment includes an interface section between the post and the stem. The interface section may include an annular radially curved exterior surface proximate to the post. The radially curved exterior surface and the circular flat surface interfaces with the abutment interface of the dental implant.

A dental abutment is disclosed for use with a replacement tooth prosthesis. The abutment has a projection that fits generically within the fastener recess of an implant fixture pre-fitted within the patient's jawbone. The projection comprises a solid core surrounded by a plurality of fibers oriented parallel to the core. Resin cement is used to fix the abutment within the implant fixture. Downward pressure pushes the fibers out into intimate contact with the inner surfaces of the fastener recess. The abutment may be a polymer resin, metal, or a combination thereof. The abutment may also have a series of calibrated projections configured to engage corresponding projections of a pre-formed replacement tooth prosthesis to enable quick and precisely aligned installation of the prosthesis. The prosthesis may be a curable resin that is formed or molded in-situ, or it may be pre-manufactured. An installation method and a multi-piece kit are also provided.

Exemplary embodiments relate to a dental abutment and methods of forming the same. The abutment (19) may include a head portion (27) located at an upper end of the abutment and constructed to support a prosthetic tooth replacement and soft tissue adjacent the head portion, an anti-rotation feature (25) located at a lower end of the abutment and constructed to mate with a dental implant, and a fillet (21) located at an interface between the head portion and the anti-rotation feature. The fillet may reduce a risk of fracture at the interface between the head portion and the anti-rotation feature. A dental implant screw for holding an abutment on a dental implant includes a head and a shaft. A proximal end of the shaft is coupled to the head. The shaft includes a threaded section, an outwardly tapered section leading into a recessed section, and a stop section directly between the outwardly tapered section and the recessed section. The recessed section is directly between the head and the stop section. The threaded section is directly adjacent a distal end of the shaft and is configured to engage threads of an internally threaded bore in the dental implant to hold the abutment on the dental implant.

The present invention relates to an abutment material for implants for bespoke creation provided so as to allow mass production and the creation of bespoke abutments adapted to the individual characteristics of the teeth of different patients, and to a method for making bespoke abutments using the same. To this end, the implant material of the present invention comprises: a bar-shaped body; a grip part which is integrally formed at one end of the body and is used as a portion for clamping the body to a processing implement when a bespoke implant is created by processing the body; a fastening part which is formed at the other end of the body and is fastened to a securing body; and a fastening hole which is formed passing through the grip part, the body and the fastening part.

A scan body element is configured to be inserted in a dental implant or implant analog for scanning with or in an optical scanning system. The scan body element has a top part with at least one geometric feature recognizable via scanning. A metallic lower part is shaped to fit to a dental implant or an analog, and fixed to the top part. A central part is arranged inside the lower part, and includes a threaded portion and a recess for receiving a screw driver through a hole in the top part. The recess allows the threaded portion to be turned relative to the lower part to fasten the scan body element to the implant or the analog. The central part is configured to be interlocked between the lower part and the top part such that the scan body element is arranged as a single element.
