Aspiration catheter

InactiveUS6849068B1Fast and efficient aspirationEasy to useStentsBalloon catheterThird aortic archSaphenous veins
Aspiration catheters suitable for use in the treatment of an occlusion in a blood vessel are disclosed. These catheters are especially useful in the removal of occlusions from saphenous vein grafts, the coronary and carotid arteries, arteries above the aortic arch and even smaller vessels. The catheters of the present invention are provided in either over-the-wire or in single operator form. Radiopaque markers are preferably incorporated into distal ends of the catheters to facilitate their positioning within the body. The catheters are provided with varying flexibility along the length of the shaft, such that they are soft and flexible enough to be navigated through the vasculature of a patient without causing damage, but are stiff enough to sustain the axial push required to position the catheter properly and to sustain the aspiration pressures.

Methods and apparatus for flow restoration

Methods for restoring blood flow in occluded blood vessels using an apparatus having a self expandable distal segment that is pre-formed to assume a superimposed structure in an unconstrained condition but can be made to take on a volume-reduced form making it possible to introduce it with a microcatheter and a push wire arranged at the proximal end, with the distal segment in its superimposed structure assuming the form of a longitudinally open tube and having a mesh structure of interconnected strings or filaments or struts. In a preferred embodiment, the distal segment has a tapering structure at its proximal end where the strings or filaments or struts converge at a connection point.

Implantable system for monitoring the condition of the heart

Disclosed is a “tracker system” that includes implanted electrical leads which are part of an implanted cardiotracker plus external equipment that includes external alarm means and a physician's programmer. The tracker system is designed to monitor the degradation of a patient's cardiovascular condition from one or more causes. These causes include the rejection of a transplanted heart and / or the progression of a stenosis in a coronary artery. As one or more stenoses in a coronary artery become progressively more narrow thereby causing reduced blood flow to the heart muscle coronary circulation, the tracker system can alert the patient by either or both internal and / or external alarm means to take the appropriate medical action. The physician's programmer can be used to display histograms of key heart signal parameters that are indicative of the patient's cardiovascular condition.

New devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for preventing, treating, and / or at least minimizing ischemia and / or reperfusion injury by restoring and / or modulating blood flow, particularly in the cerebral vasculature where blood vessels are narrow and tortuous. These devices, systems, and methods make it possible for a clinician to adequately and systematically restore blood flow to ischemic tissue while simultaneously modulating the blood flow to minimize reperfusion injury. New thrombectomy devices and systems, which, for example, expand with greater radial force, further enable improved binding with clots and restoration of blood flow.

Devices and systems for thrombus treatment

A thrombus treatment device includes a support wire, a body frame portion that is disposed about an axis defined by the support wire, one or more tethers that each have a first end and a second end, and a filter element extending from the body frame portion. Each of the one or more tethers is attached at its first end to the body frame portion, and at its second end to a collar that couples the second end of each of the multiple tethers to the support wire. When the collar is positioned substantially within a region interior of the body frame portion, a rotational actuation of the support wire causes a swiveling motion of the one or more tethers.

Endoluminal prosthesis endoleak management

The present invention provides methods and compositions for managing endoleaks in a perigraft space around an endovascular graft. In one embodiment, a blood flow through the endovascular graft is temporarily reduced and an embolic material is delivered into the perigraft space while the blood flow through the endovascular graft is reduced. The embolic material may comprise polyethylene glycol diacrylate, pentaerthyritol tetra 3(mercaptopropionate), and a buffer.

Systems and methods for overcoming or preventing vascular flow restrictions

Systems and methods for overcoming or preventing vascular flow restrictions which involve: (1) providing at least one structural element within or about a vessel having a vascular flow restriction; and (2) equipping the structural element with bio-lining such that it restores blood flow and minimizes, if not eliminates, the interface between blood and non-biological materials to thereby prevent stenosis and / or restenosis.

Thrombectomy device, system and method for extraction of vascular thrombi from a blood vessel

A thrombectomy device including a delivery catheter; a tapered dilator catheter configured to be movably disposed within the delivery catheter; and an expandable aspiration funnel configured to be movably disposed within the delivery catheter in a retracted position and at least partially outside the delivery catheter in an extended position, the funnel comprising a non-permeable covering, a diameter of a distal end of the funnel being greater in the extended position than in the retracted position, the funnel being configured to adapt its shape and length to a surrounding blood vessel such that the funnel lengthens as it narrows to retain a thrombus within the funnel. The invention also includes methods of using the device.

Electrosurgical system and method for sterilizing chronic wound tissue

An electrosurgical method for sterilizing chronic wound tissue, comprising: positioning an active electrode in proximity to the chronic wound tissue; delivering an electrically conductive fluid proximate the active electrode; and applying a high frequency voltage between the active electrode and a return electrode in the presence of the electrically conductive liquid sufficient to generate an ionized vapor layer at the active electrode, wherein the ionized vapor layer sterilizes at least a portion of the chronic wound tissue.

Intravascular stent of composite structure

InactiveCN105125326AAvoid second strokeSmooth blood flowStentsSurgeryCerebral paralysisThrombus
The invention discloses an intravascular stent of a composite structure; the intravascular stent comprises a stent main body, wherein the distal end of the stent is restrained as an adducted form by virtue of a tightening wire, and the tightening wire is degradable magnesium alloy or degradable iron alloy; one or more auxiliary wires are woven on the stent main body; when the stent is applied to blood vessel of brain, the auxiliary wire is pure platinum or alloy thereof, pure gold or alloy thereof, pure tungsten or alloy thereof, or pure tantalum or alloy thereof; and when the stent is applied to peripheral blood vessel, the auxiliary wire is cobalt-chromium alloy or stainless steel or tungsten or tantalum. The stent, when serving as a thrombus removal system for treating cerebral apoplexy, not only can be used for removing thrombus effectively for several times but also can be used for catching small thrombus flowing to distal end so as to prevent distal blood vessels from getting blocked; and the stent can be used for dilating stenosis or blocked brain blood vessel or peripheral blood vessel, so as to take an effect of dredging and reconstructing a blood flow. The stent can be repositioned and released, with high controllability; and the stent can be used for reducing operation difficulty and greatly improving an operation success rate.

Blood clot extraction device

A device for capturing a clot in a blood vessel comprises an outer shaft, an inner shaft slidably disposed in a lumen of the outer shaft, and clot capture arms secured to a distal end of the inner shaft. The device is navigated and advanced through the vasculature to reach the location of a blood clot. An anchoring element on the outer shaft is expanded to anchor the device at the location of the blood clot. The clot capture arms are extended from the open end of the outer shaft. As the clot capture arms are extended, the distal portions of the arms gradually open into radially inwardly curved configurations to capture the clot. With the clot captured, the arms are retracted back into the outer shaft along with the clot. The anchoring element is then collapsed, and the device, with the clot captured therein, is retracted from the vasculature.

Mitigation of pressure ulcers using electrical stimulation

A method is provided for mitigating or preventing formation of pressure ulcers by transmitting an electrical stimulus sufficient to effect contraction of a loaded muscle, wherein the method comprises the steps of providing an electrical transmission for effecting contraction of the loaded muscle, transmitting sufficient electrical stimulation to the muscle to contract it for a predetermined period of time (the ON period), and ceasing transmission of the stimulus to the muscle for a predetermined period of muscle relaxation (the OFF period), whereby the predetermined period of relaxation is sufficient to cause sustained reoxygenation of the activated muscle.
