A markerless motion capture system is provided for measurements accurate enough for biomechanical, clinical, sport, entertainment, animation, game and movie, design, ergonomics, surveillance applications. The system has multiple cameras distributed around a viewing volume. The cameras allow for the creation of three-dimensional mesh representations of an object dynamically moving within the viewing volume. Bonding of parts with dissimilar thermal expansion coefficients

A method for bonding materials with different thermal expansion coefficients is provided. An intermediary layer of glass, ceramics, polymers, metals or composites is inserted between the materials to be bonded; this intermediary layer has a compositional gradient that could have been formed through diffusion processes. The coefficient of thermal expansion changes across the intermediary layer and on each side it is not substantially different from the coefficient of thermal expansion of the material that the layer is facing. In that manner there is nowhere within the intermediate layer or on the interfaces to the materials being bonded that thermally induced stress will cause fractures or significant permanent plastic deformation. The thickness of the intermediary layer depends on the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion between the two materials being bonded, the temperature range the bond will be exposed to and the elasticity.

Apparatus and method for electronically estimating focusing distance between a camera (still and / or video camera) and a subject. Images at different focal positions of a calibration target are collected to arrive at a focus matching model for a given imaging apparatus. In operation, at least two images are captured and convolutions performed which approximate the modeling of blur change as a point spread function. Wavelet transforms are applied to the images after each convolution and images are compared based on the wavelet variance differences to provide a motion robust blur difference determination. Applying the blur differences to the focus matching model provides an estimate of focusing distance, which can be utilized such as for controlling camera focus.

An image encryption / decryption system performs quantification and reconstruction of 2-D and 3-D layered and arbitrary grayscale or binary images in raster or vector format and supports their secure transmission between a Sender and a Receiver. The IIASTR and IIASIZE are used as hash values in authentication of a transmitted image. Using the Quantification parameters (IIAstr and IIAsize), the present technique pinpoints the differences in structure and size in time series images, computes the localization of the differences between images of different categories and presented in different formats, and is capable of performing reconstruction of original 2-D and 3-D images from their N-partite graphs G (N) and F(M,N) table. The subject system and method may be used for fully automated quantification of dimensions and structure of 2-D and 3-D lesions with fuzzy margins in a precise and highly efficient manner.
