Stereoscopic 3-d viewing system with portable electro-optical viewing glasses and shutter-state control signal transmitter having multiple modes of operation for stereoscopic viewing of 3-d images displayed in different stereoscopic image formats

The present invention relates to a system and method of viewing pairs of perspective images of 3-D objects (i.e. stereoscopic image pairs) displayed from a CRT display surface in a time-multiplexed or field-sequential manner, and more particularly to a universal method of generating control signals for synchronously changing the optical state of liquid crystal (LC) shutter panels through which the time-multiplexed perspective. images can be sequentially viewed in a substantially flicker-free manner by the left and right eyes of a human viewer, independent of whether the images are displayed on NTSC, PAL, VGA or SVGA styled CRT display devices.

Printer-built-in image-sensing apparatus and electric-consumption control method thereof

A printer-built-in image-sensing apparatus including a camera which performs image sensing with film exposure, and a printer which prints an image sensed by the camera. After a shutter button has been pressed and image sensing with strobe light emission has been performed, if printing is instructed by pressing of a print button, then electric charging a capacitor of a strobe circuit is made after the completion of the print operation. Otherwise, the charging of the capacitor is started immediately after the image sensing. In this case, even if printing is instructed during the electric charge, printing is started after completion of the electric charge. Thus, electric consumption upon print operation can be reduced and fluctuation of voltage can be suppressed.

Gray scale optical mark reader

In a broad aspect of the invention, the master printed form is scanned and processed according to a forms definition program to produce a virtual form file comprising a virtual layout of the significant regions such as bubble targets of printed material on the form, on a virtual coordinate system. Production forms that have been marked by subjects (e.g., students, voters, survey respondents, etc.), are then scanned to produce a marked form file of gray scale darkness values for each marked form. The marked form file and the virtual form file, are compared and processed to determine the location and spatial relationships of the marks on the marked form, in relation to the virtual coordinate system of the virtual form. The raw scan of each marked form is also processed to determine whether darkened areas on the marked form image should be interpreted as intentional responses from the subject, at the virtual coordinates where targets are located on the virtual form.

Ink jet printing apparatus and printing method

By suppressing deviation of dot-formation positions stemming from insufficient accuracy in conveying a printing medium due to eccentricity of a conveying roller, a printed image in which unevenness is less visible is obtained. An accumulated amount of conveyance errors is reduced by narrowing a nozzle-use range and by reducing a conveyance amount over an entire printing region according to the number of colors to be used and desired printing quality in printing an image. Moreover, the nozzles used when the nozzle-use range is narrowed are not fixed, and are switched to be used as appropriate. This prevents only certain nozzles from being used concentratedly, and allows all of the nozzles to maintain substantially the same ejection performance.

Multi-print head printer for detecting alignment errors and aligning image data reducing swath boundaries

A multi-printhead printing system, including first and second printheads adapted to print on a receiver medium. An alignment process includes printing a test pattern including features separated by predefined test pattern feature separations, where some features are printed with a first printhead and some features printed with a second printhead. An image of the printed test pattern is analyzed to determine a first camera pixel separation between two features printed with the first printhead, which is used to determine a camera scale factor. The camera scale factor is used to scale a second camera pixel separation between a feature printed with first printhead and a feature printed with the second printhead. The scaled second camera pixel separation is compared to a corresponding test pattern feature separation to determine an alignment error, which is used to adjust the alignment of the image data printed with at least one of the printheads.
