Child-Resistant Blister Package

A package includes a blank having a face panel and a back panel. The face panel includes apertures and face tabs. The back panel includes gates that correspond with apertures, and tab strips that overlap the gates and are adjoined to back tabs. A blister pack is sealed between the face panel and the back panel whereby blisters align over gates and protrude through apertures, and tabs and form a composite pull tab. To remove an item from a blister, the pull tab is pressed out of the panels, the tab strip is peeled from the back panel, and pressure is applied to force the item through the backing sheet of the blister pack and the exposed gate.

The invention further relates to a system and method for managing a self medication regime which works in conjunction with an electronic adaptable pill organizer, a third party device, or a combination thereof, in order to provide the aforementioned capabilities within the electronic pill organizer. The system further allows a third party device to receive, and transmit messages to and from an electronic pill organizer in real. The system provides a means and a method for monitoring the usage of an electronic pill organizer by a third party.

A portable medication cartridge allows for both manual and automated dispensing of tablets or capsules of virtually all sizes through a radial dispensing apparatus. The cartridge may be sealed and encoded with medication and patient identification. A microprocessor controlled medication dispensing apparatus includes a cartridge magazine capable of holding a plurality of cartridges for the same or different patients. The portable medication dispensing apparatus and method detects patient identification data and activates a radial dispensing medication cartridge in response to verification of patient identification data. The radial dispensing medication cartridge may include, for example, a tablet carrier tape having a plurality of tablet packets with at least a partially open side. The tablet carrier tape accommodates different sizes and types of tablets or capsules and is sealed with a cover tape having an identification of the tablets. The cover tape is removed after the carrier tape is inserted into the dispensing medication cartridge. The medication is sequentially advanced and allowed to radially dispense through the open side of the tablet carrier tape from the medication cartridge.

The present invention provides a drug solution filling plastic ampoule having gas, steam and light ray barrier properties, a drug permeation preventing capability and an absorption / adsorption preventing capability, and a production method for the plastic ampoule. The drug solution filling plastic ampoule (10) according to the present invention includes a container body (11), a fusion-bonded portion (13) which seals a mouth (12) of the container body, and a wrench-off holder tab (14) connected to the fusion-bonded portion. The ampoule (10) is formed from a parison including two or more layers, at least one of which is a functional layer having at least one characteristic property selected from the group consisting of a gas permeation preventing capability, a steam permeation preventing capability, a light ray permeation preventing capability, a drug permeation preventing capability and a drug absorption / adsorption preventing capability. That is, the parison is extruded from a multilayer blow forming die, and then held between lower split mold pieces to be formed into the container body (11). After a drug solution (15) is filled in the container body (11), the mouth (12) is held between upper split mold pieces to form the fusion-bonded portion (13) and the holder tab (14). Thus, the plastic ampoule is provided.
