The advancement mechanism being operatively engaged to the mandibular dental plate repositions the mandibular plate to a forward location relative to the maxillary dental plate. During the repositioning of the mandibular dental plate the mandibular lingual surface mount distributes pressure evenly to the lingual surfaces on the lower jaw, reducing localized pressure points which can cause tooth movement.
