In mathematics, the notion of externology in a topological space X generalizes the basic properties of the family εXcc = {E ⊆ X : X\E is a closed compact subset of X} of complements of the closed compact subspaces of X, which are used to construct its Alexandroff compactification. An externology permits to introduce a notion of end point, to study the divergence of nets in terms of convergence to end points and it is a useful tool for the study and classification of some families of non compact topological spaces. It can also be used to approach a topological space as the limit of other topological spaces: the externologies are very useful when a compact metric space embedded in a Hilbert space is approached by its open neighbourhoods.

Window element for insertion in a window aperture in an outer skin of a transport

A window element has a cover pane which is substantially flush with an outer skin of an aircraft or other transport, achieving a fluid-dynamically favourable, substantially unbulged exterior surface. As a result of the presence of an additional back-ventilated cover pane 10 arranged in front of the actual outer pane of the window element, a fluid-dynamically favourable integration of the window element into the outer skin of an aircraft fuselage airframe is achieved. Any deformation, such as any buckling or bulging of the outer pane of the window element, as a result of a difference in pressure between the interior of the aircraft fuselage airframe and the exterior space at cruising altitudes, has no fluid-dynamically disadvantageous effect. The outer pane is covered by the cover pane which remains substantially undeformed with respect to the outer skin of the aircraft fuselage airframe, for example. Any deformation of the cover pane is largely eliminated by this back-ventilation.

Capturing a user's intent in design software

A software program for use in designing interior and exterior spaces receives user input that is associated with one or more attributes. Subsequent user input, having other attributes, is resolved in light of the first input attributes to create a real-world depiction of design choices in real-time. For example, design choices that conflict with prior design choices are resolved (or modified as necessary) to ensure that each of the prior and present user input choices are represented in an appropriate way. The resolution by the design software is also used to create an accurate parts (and / or price) list so that when the user has completed the design of an exterior or interior space, the design can be submitted directly as an order to be fulfilled. Generally, continual resolution ensures that the user's design intent is captured in an accurate and efficient way in a user interface.

Liquid flow control based upon energy balance and fan speed for controlling exhaust air temperature

A computer-implemented method regulates exhaust air temperature from direct interface liquid-cooled (DL) nodes in a rack information handling system (RIHS). The method includes receiving a first input corresponding to a desired ambient temperature of an exterior space and a second input is corresponding to an amount of heat being dissipated from functional components operating within an interior space of at least one LC node. An ambient temperature reading of the exterior space is received. A flow rate is calculated for liquid flowing through an air-to-liquid heat exchange (ATLHE) subsystem that results in an amount of heat exchange in the ATLHE subsystem, which generates exhaust air at a temperature that causes a change in the ambient temperature towards the desired ambient temperature. The flow rate is dynamically adjusted of the liquid flowing through the ATLHE subsystem to the calculated flow rate.
