38 results about "Edentulous patient" patented technology

Treatment for edentulous patients may vary depending on how long the patient has been missing his teeth and whether the patient is partially or completely toothless. Traditionally, edentulous patients are fitted with a row of removable artificial teeth called dentures.

Full denture base manufacturing method

A full denture base manufacturing method is provided that can easily manufacture a full denture base, using a set of maxillary impression tray and a mandibular impression tray for taking an impression from a patient including an edentulous patient. An impression material is applied on each of a maxillary impression tray 3 and a mandibular impression tray 4 configuring a set of impression trays, and respectively having a U-shaped groove, the U-shaped groove having a front surface side on which the impression material is to be applied and being provided with projecting parts 1 on a back surface side thereof, and the applied impression material is pressed against an alveolar ridge within an oral cavity and set, to determine bite position and height in a state in which at least a part of flat top surfaces of the projecting parts 1 contact each other, the second impression material is applied between back surfaces of the impression trays 3, 4 and set in a state in which at least a part of the flat top surfaces contact each other, each of the impression trays 3, 4 and the impression material are removed from within the oral cavity in one piece of the maxillary and mandibular impression trays, or separately in two pieces of the maxillary and mandibular impression trays, and a model material is thereafter injected to each impression material on the removed maxillary and mandibular impression trays and set, in order to manufacture an edentulous jaw model, and the edentulous jaw model is set on an articulator in a state in which the bite position and height that are determined in advance are reflected, in order to manufacture a full denture base.

Medical implant and medical implant system for malar process of the maxilla

PendingUS20210236247A1Dental implantsCoatingsEdentulous maxillaLess invasive
The invention consists of a medical implant for anchoring to the malar process of the maxilla, said implant having a head (1) with an angulation of 35° to 55°; an internal or external connector (2) for different types of abutments; an implant body (3) shaped to define an apical and basal portion, said apical portion being threaded all around, and said basal portion having threads on one side and a faceted canoe-thinning shape on the other side for better layering of soft tissues. The invention also concerns a medical implant system comprising the aforementioned medical implant, a surgical guide and at least one bone drill. The invention is suitable for rehabilitation of patients suffering from posterior edentulous maxillae with insufficient bone volume and allows for an immediate rehabilitation of the edentulous patient with a reduced treatment time and morbidity, through a considerably less invasive and technically simplified technique.

Custom reduction splint for edentulous patients

A custom oral splint that is operatively secured to the maxilla and mandible of a subject / patient to assist in reduction and provide maintenance of reduction of maxillary and mandibular fractures in the edentulous or partially edentulous subject / patient. In this difficult patient population, there are very limited options for maxillomandibular fixation, and none provide stable reduction of fractures. The novel device minimizes operative time and equipment, as well as offers the ability to transition the patient from rigid fixation to elastics postoperatively. The novel device is custom-designed for each patient's degree of bone atrophy, ensuring a high quality, and effective product.

Maxillomandibular fitting type coupled artificial tooth set

To provide a pair of maxillary and mandibular coupled artificial tooth sets applicable to alveolar ridge shapes of an unspecified large number of edentulous patients and having all the parts of 14 teeth coupled into an ideal arch shape and in an ideal maxillomandibular occlusal contact relationship. The present invention provides a pair of maxillary and mandibular coupled artificial tooth sets clearly defining an arrangement region of all parts at the time of arrangement in virtual three-dimensional coordinates, a contact relationship between maxillary and mandibular artificial teeth, and a harmonizing contact / gliding relationship at the time of movement on a mean-value articulator. This enables provision of a high-quality complete denture in which an occlusal relationship required for a complete denture can be established in a short time regardless of a skill of a technician and a difference in shape of an alveolar ridge of an edentulous patient.

Surgical drill guide aimed at locating ideal position for dental implants in edentulous patients

This document describes a set of surgical drill guides for the upper and lower jaw, the guides aimed at locating the ideal position for dental implants in edentulous patients. The guides are made up of a surgical stent material from metal or other rigid material that is aligned to provide support and stability of fully edentulous upper and lower jaw to orient surgical drills in the area of operation. The present embodiment comprises a U-shape metal plate provided form or shaped resembling a toothless upper or lower jaw and containing a top surface of the surgical stent that is contacting the soft tissue of maxilla or mandibula and the bottom surface of the stent that has the same shape as a top one.

Dental system having baseline enabling digital three-dimensional tooth model to be merged with anatomical location and plane analysis of human body

The present invention relates to a dental system having a baseline enabling a digital three-dimensional tooth model to be merged with the anatomical location and plane analysis of a human body, the dental system being formed to enable an edentulous patient or a patient with partially missing teeth to bite same with their mouth and comprising: an acquisition unit for acquiring the tooth height or tooth distance of the patient; an analysis unit which is provided in a maxillary landmark or a mandible landmark of the edentulous patient or the patient with partially missing teeth and analyzes an occlusal plane of the edentulous patient or the patient with partially missing teeth; and a control unit which is linked to each of the acquisition unit and the analysis unit and simultaneously or selectively modulates and controls the acquisition unit and the analysis unit. A digital three-dimensional tooth model, which is required for the design of a digital tooth prosthesis needed for an edentulous patient or a patient with partially missing teeth, is modulated with a baseline that enables the model to be located at an anatomically ideal position, and thus is formed such that the digital three-dimensional tooth model is rapidly and accurately matched with the anatomically ideal position, thereby having the effect of good mastication and pronunciation.

Laryngeal Mask Anchoring Device for Edentulous Patients

A laryngeal mask anchoring device serves to seat an airway tube in an operational position against edentulous gums and the roof of the mouth to securely hold the airway tube in a desired position. The device also guides the airway tube towards the lungs, and braces the mouth open for manipulations to the airway tube. The device collapses into a substantially flat configuration for storage and portability. An upper and lower brace directly engage the edentulous gums. The braces are substantially smooth and pliable, and are configured to mate with substantially smooth, bald gums. A supportive platform with a slightly curved surface forms a supportive brace to hold the airway tube into place against the roof of the mouth. The slightly curved configuration of the platform nestles the airway tube, and the large surface area presses the airway tube against the roof of the mouth.
