Micro-flexure suspension including piezoelectric elements for secondary actuation

A micro-flexure is provided for achieving secondary actuation in an actuator of a disk drive. The micro-flexure is a separate element which attaches to a standard flexure. A slider mounts to the micro-flexure. Piezoelectric elements attach to the micro-flexure to provide the motive force for displacing the micro-flexure during secondary actuation. The secondary actuation is thereby achieved by isolating movement at the slider.

Prevention of core failures in large electric machines

The keybar that is attached to the frame of a dynamoelectric machine is broken into a bald keybar with mini-dovetails attached to it. The bald keybar is identical to the bolt portion of a conventional keybar. The mini-dovetail is a trapezoidal or U-shaped strip with insulated slanted arms. The core packet is inserted loosely over an array of mini-dovetails. Devices such as wedges, threaded rods flex the slanted arm and press them against the slot faces of the core packet, thereby locking the core packet to the frame. Insulation on the slanted arms prevents large eddy currents due to shorted laminations, increasing the machine efficiency. Preventing large eddy currents also eliminates hot spots which could otherwise cause a core failure. Locking the core packets also prevents rattling of laminations. The locking method also distributes the torque forces evenly around the periphery.

Torsion girder type hind axle

The invention provides a twisting beam back shaft, which can guarantee the service life of the back shaft and meanwhile saves space and reduces the weight of the complete vehicle. The twisting beam back shaft of the invention comprises a beam and a pipe fitting-formed suspension trailing arm which connects to the left and right ends of the beam; in particular, the top surface of the beam is horizontal, and the cross sectional area of the beam increases gradually from the middle part to the two sides. By changing the distribution of the cross sectional area of the beam, the twisting beam back shaft of the invention can effectively avoid stress concentration at the welding seam where the back beam and the trailing arm are overlapped, and thus prolongs the service life of the back shaft assembly; the top surface of the beam is horizontal unlike the upward convex traditional beams, which can largely save the required space for arrangement, improve the space utilization of the complete vehicle, reduce the weight of the complete vehicle and fuel consumption.
