Coordinated environment for classification and control of network traffic

Methods, apparatuses and systems directed to the coordinated classification of network traffic. In one implementation, the present invention enables a coordinated network environment for traffic classification where an upstream network device classifies a data flow and adds traffic class information to at least one packet in the data flow. Downstream network devices in the communications path to the destination host can use the traffic class information in the modified packet, bypassing at least some of the local traffic classification operations and thereby reducing CPU utilization. In one implementation, the last downstream network device strips the traffic classification information from the modified packet before it is forwarded to the destination host. Embodiments of the invention reduce or eliminate redundant network traffic classification operations performed by a plurality of network devices in a communications path.

Method for fast access to flash-memory media

In one embodiment, the invention comprises a flash-media controller used for writing new data from an external system to a local flash-memory device. The newly written data may replace old data previously written to the flash-memory device, and may be written directly to unused locations within the flash-memory device. The flash-media controller may comprise a table of block descriptors and sector descriptors used to track specified characteristics of each block and sector of the flash-memory device, thereby allowing for write sequences to non-contiguous sectors within a block. Accordingly, copy operations may be deferred under the expectation that they will eventually become unnecessary, thereby designating old data as having become stale. Once all data within a block has been designated as being stale, the block may be marked as unused and may be made available for subsequent write operations, thereby providing fast write access to the flash-memory device, and significantly reducing the number of required copy operations during data transfer to the flash-memory device.

A fuel tank is formed by a blow molding apparatus and method wherein a blow pin provides pressurized gas into an interior of a parison received in a blow mold so the parison may be blown to shape within the mold cavity. When the blow pin is no longer needed, it is retracted from the mold and a pinch plate assembly is used to close off the opening in the molded part created by the blow pin. Thereafter, the mold may be opened and the molded part removed, the pinch plate assembly and moved back to its retracted position, and the blow mold pin may be advanced into the open mold for use with a subsequent parison so that the subsequent parison can be blow molded in the same manner.

Free flow valve and element

A gasketless, straight-through bore fluid flow pinch valve and flexible, removable tubing element for improved sanitary conditions in production facilities. The valve casing is joined by fittings that enable separation of the casing to remove and replace the flexible element, which includes all wetted surfaces. The fittings may be one or more hinges to permit partial separation of the valve casing, which permits the element to remain on-line while maintenance is performed on the valve. The flexible element is a silicone or PTFE-composite which is in an axially compressed state when locked into the valve by rigid, tolerance-fitted backup cups on the molded ends of the element, which increases the process life of the element.

Small Form-Factor Pluggable Optical Transceiver

A small form-factor pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver includes a casing configured to accommodate optical and electrical devices. During normal operation, the casing is connected to a switchboard via a connector in the switchboard, and the optical devices are outside the switchboard, thereby exposing optical devices sensitive to high temperature to the outside air, reducing the operational temperature of the optical device portion relative to the heated portion inside the switchboard. Thus, the present SFP optical transceiver advantageously improves operational performance and extends the life of the device. Also, the present SFP optical transceiver having the optical device portion outside the switchboard advantageously improves the cooling performance for the optical device portion.

Efficient multi-zone multi-velocity HVAC control method and apparatus

The present invention provides heating and cooling conditioning control in a multiple zone HVAC system to achieve enhanced user comfort and energy efficiency. In particular, the present invention provides a multiple zone HVAC control apparatus that senses and responds to changes in duct air pressure in order to prevent undesirable zone conditioning, energy loss, and register noise. The present invention offers particular benefit in high and medium velocity HVAC environments which typically suffer from pronounced deficiencies when zone demands diverge. Due to its ability to respond to changes in duct pressure, the present invention permits the conditioning of an increased number of zones without degradation in performance or user comfort. Additionally, the present invention provides a means to control elements within a multiple zone HVAC system including but not limited to heating and cooling sources, air circulator fans, zone dampers, and circulating pumps to achieve desired zone conditioning.
