Method and system for editing electronic ink

ActiveUS7259752B1Select accurately and quicklyPerform quickly and accuratelyCharacter and pattern recognitionSpecial data processing applicationsElectronic documentHandwriting
A computer-implemented method and system for erasing and editing an electronic document. A goal for computing devices that support the use of a stylus that can record handwriting strokes and present them in an electronic document is to present electronic ink that behaves similar to real ink from a pen. The nature of the electronic document and the electronic ink makes it difficult to edit the ink as one would with traditional pen and paper. However, an editing module accompanying the computing device can provide a user with functionality that facilitates the editing of electronic ink. Specifically, the editing module cna provide a feedback mechanisms, such as highlighting or shading, that indicates to the user which portions of handwriting strokes are selected for editing. Additionally, the editing module can recognize certain gestures and determine which handwriting strokes to apply the editing gesture to.

Biological sample observation system and biological sample observation method

An object is to provide a biological sample observation system wherein light damage to the biological sample is decreased, and observation can be performed accurately and quickly over a long period of time. A biological sample observation system which continuously obtains information on a biological sample that is cultured inside of a culturing container has: an imaging section which observes mutually different regions that are previously selected, among regions to be observed including the biological sample, through an object lens for observing the biological sample in the culturing container through a part of the culturing container; an autofocus section which detects the focusing of the object lens with respect to a predetermined region among the regions to be observed; and a focusing drive control section which controls the focusing of the object lens when the biological sample is observed using the imaging section, based on the detection result of the focusing previously performed by the autofocus section. After the focus detection is performed by the autofocus section, without being intervened by the focus detection using the autofocus section, and the different regions are continuously observed by the imaging section, with the focusing controlled by the focusing drive control section.

An ink ribbon is formed from a belt shaped sheet body, and is wound around a pair of tubes. Spools are detachably mounted at each end of the tube bodies. An ink ribbon cartridge includes side plates formed with supporting openings for supporting corresponding spools. When the ink ribbon cartridge is mounted in a printing device, the spools are freely rotatable within the supporting openings. A protrusion is formed in an upper surface of the takeup-side of the cartridge. The protrusion provides a handle and an opening is formed in the takeup-side upper surface beneath the protrusion.

Device for vitrectomy surgical operations

A vitrectomy probe for removing vitreous material from an eyeball, having a longitudinal axis and an outer tube with a closed end and a lateral surface, at least one inlet port located proximate to the closed end and configured to allow the vitreous material to enter into the outer tube; an inner tube arranged in the outer tube to relatively move with respect to the outer tube, the inner tube having an opening with a cutting profile through which the vitreous material can be cut and can enter the inner tube, a drive unit configured for causing the outer tube and the inner tube to move relatively with respect to each other, in such a way that the cutting profile cuts the vitreous material entering the inlet port.
