Speech generation device with a projected display and optical inputs

In several embodiments, a speech generation device is disclosed. The speech generation device may generally include a projector configured to project images in the form of a projected display onto a projection Surface, an optical input device configured to detect an input directed towards the projected display and a speaker configured to generate an audio output. In addition, the speech generation device may include a processing unit communicatively coupled to the projector, the optical input device and the speaker. The processing unit may include a processor and related computer readable medium configured to store instructions executable by the processor, wherein the instructions stored on the computer readable medium configure the speech generation device to generate text-to-speech output.

System and method for enabling information associations

A system and method for enabling information associations which parses objects contained within a document such a Web page, in order to form a list of “metalink” objects within the document for which related information may be available. Visual indications of metalink objects within the document may be provided automatically, or in response to a user action requesting such indications be made, and may include any kind of modification to the visual display of the metalink objects or to the cursor as it is moved over or near the metalink objects. User selection of a metalink object, for example clicking on the display of a metalink object, is further detected. In response to such user selection of a metalink object, a database is searched for information related to the selected metalink object, including pointers or links to other documents. The search results (“metadata”) are then displayed, for example in a pop-up window. Metadata may be weighted in terms of their perceived relevancy to a user of the local system, or to a group of users spread across multiple systems, or to all users, based on monitoring of activities performed on one or more client systems by client side software.

Method and apparatus for mandibular osteosynthesis

InactiveUS6423068B1Enhanced bending easeWiden the optionsInternal osteosythesisBone platesEngineeringSymphysis
An apparatus for osteosynthesis of a mandible. An elongated plate has a plurality of apertures. The plate has a first portion, a second portion, and a central portion intermediate the first and second portions. Each of the apertures within the first portion and within the second portion are disposed in relatively close spaced relationship, and each of the apertures within the central portion are disposed in relatively widely spaced relationship. The width of the plate between apertures is less in the central portion than in the first portion. The plate is more easily bent within the central portion than within the first portion, and can be bent to a relatively small radius in the central portion without distorting the apertures within the central portion. The central portion is sized and located to overlie the symphysis of the mandible.

Medical ablation catheter control

The control for an ablation catheter provides increased ablation catheter operation feedback and increased options for programmable control of the ablation catheter for clinicians. The control for an ablation catheter has a microcontroller containing memory, an input and output coupled to the microcontroller, a movement program, a comparison program, and an annunciating program. The movement program processes position information from the input to calculate ablation catheter movement. The comparison program compares ablation catheter movement to a predetermined control data.

Controlled orifice sampling needle

ActiveUS7179232B2Increase optionAdd optionsSurgical needlesVaccination/ovulation diagnosticsBone marrow samplingInner Cannula
A bone marrow sampling device is provided, including an outer cannula having a sidewall with a plurality of openings and a distal tissue penetrating tip. An inner cannula is positioned within the outer cannula, and includes a sidewall with at least one opening. Selective relative movement of the inner cannula and the outer cannula enables the device to be configured in multiple bone marrow sampling modes in which the at least one opening in the sidewall of the inner cannula is aligned with different openings in the sidewall of the outer cannula such that bone marrow can be drawn into the inner lumen of the inner cannula from different radial and longitudinal positions external to the sidewall of the outer cannula without the need to reposition the outer cannula.
