A fast acting switching mechanism for a circuit breaker includes a drive rod articulated to a drive module and supporting at an end thereof a contact bridge having at opposite ends thereof respective moveable contacts for switchably engaging a pair of fixed contacts of the circuit breaker. A contact spring unit is operatively coupled to the drive module for applying closing pressure in the order of 200 Kg; and a latch latches the drive rod in an open or closed position after operation of the circuit breaker and prevents rebounds. The present invention provides an electromagnetic tripping device. The device has a cradle (1) supporting a U-shaped armature (2) whose ends form polar surfaces cooperating with a palette (3). The palette is brought on the surfaces to close a magnetic circuit formed by the armature and the palette. A trip coil (4) is mounted around a yoke frame surrounding the magnetic circuit and can thwart the force of a magnet to move the palette. A resetting top cap (7) of the palette is mounted slidingly in a support (12) included in the cradle. The palette (3) pivots with respect to the U-shaped armature. The feature of the electromagnetic tripping device is that the cradle (1) includes the said top cap (7) and support (12).

A circuit breaker includes a movable contact, a fixed contact, a switching device, a switching operation handle, and an over-current tripping device. The switching device has a switching lever connected to the handle, a toggle linkage having an upper link and a lower link for connecting to the movable contact, a tripping mechanism for activating the toggle linkage in response to over-current, and an operation spring tightly stretched between the switching lever and the toggle linkage. A locking member is provided in the switching device for interconnecting the toggle linkage and the switching lever and for restricting a movement range of the switching lever according to an operational position of the toggle linkage. When main-circuit contact points are stuck, the locking member restricts the movement of the switching lever and prevents the handle from moving to the OFF position.

A movable contactor assembly for a current limiting type MCCB comprising: a terminal base fixedly installed on a case; a plurality of movable contactors having a cam face portion; a pair of holder plates supporting the movable contactors at both sides thereof; a plurality of first springs providing an elastic force to the movable contactors; a plurality of extending plate portions provided to face the side of one end portion of each of the movable contactors; a plurality of flexible wire plates electrically connecting the movable contactors and the terminal base and having a portion bendable toward the movable contactors or toward the extending plate portions; and a second spring providing an elastic force to the flexible wire plates so as to be tightly attached to the movable contactor.

A circuit breaker includes a trip unit and an electronic fault detection unit sharing a common trip latch for causing the circuit breaker to trip upon detection of a fault by either unit. The circuit breaker has an electromagnet for causing the circuit breaker to trip upon detection of a fault by an electronic fault detection unit. The electromagnet is oriented in the housing proximal the trip latch without any components interposed between them, and directly attracts the latch. Advantageously the electromagnet orientation does not impact operation or the range of motion of the latch or other trip unit components. Advantageously the circuit breaker of the present invention does not increase the trip latch mass, its bulk swept volume through its range of motion or require additional linkage components that potentially might increase trip cycle time. In some embodiments the electromagnet core is reciprocable.

A divided armature for the trip mechanism of a circuit breaker especially useful for low trip current breakers allows for two independent adjustments: first of the magnetic air gap between the yoke and the armature and second of the clearance between the trip bar and the back plate of the armature. The divided armature allows the force of a return spring of the trip mechanism to be unchanged while adjusting the magnetic air gap to set the trip current point.
