A lubricant additive gel formed by the gellation of two or more lubricant additives for the slow release of the additive components into a fluid. The lubricant additive gel slowly releases into its component lubricant additives when contacted with the fluid such as an oil thereby serving as a lubricant fluid such as an oil thereby.

The high pressure lubrication circuit is fluidly coupled to a crankshaft to supply lubrication fluid to sliding surfaces associated with the crankshaft at a first lubrication fluid pressure. The crankshaft drives a crosshead coupled to a plunger to displace fluid from a fluid end of the reciprocating pump. The low pressure lubrication circuit is fluidly coupled to supply the lubrication fluid to a plurality of rolling surfaces associated with the crankshaft at a second lubrication fluid pressure. The first lubrication fluid pressure is greater than the second lubrication fluid pressure.

A piston for internal combustion engines, capable of being manufactured easily and improving the durability of a combustion chamber, moved reciprocatingly in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine, and provided in a top surface thereof with a combustion chamber formed by recessing the same top surface, and in an outer circumferential wall of the combustion chamber with a cooling cavity the inner diameter of a lower portion of an inner circumferential surface of which is set smaller than that of an upper portion thereof, wherein a cross-sectionally angular portion defined by an upper edge portion, at which the combustion chamber is opened in the interior of a cylinder, of an inner circumferential surface of the combustion chamber and a piston-top surface is chamfered greatly in conformity with the cross-sectional shape of the upper portion of the inner circumferential surface of the cooling cavity to such an extent that the thickness of an upper portion of an inner circumferential wall of the cooling cavity does not greatly vary.

A method of operating an actuator for electromagnetically controlling a valve in an internal combustion engine involves supplying a heating current to the operating coils of the actuator before starting the internal combustion engine from a cold start condition. Thereby, the operating coils, the components surrounding them, and the lubricant are heated to ensure proper viscosity of the lubricant and thus proper operation of the actuator.

An environmentally friendly acid neutralizing filter cartridge is adapted to be mounted in a cartridge mounting body of an engine oil circuit for filtering particulates and neutralizing acid in oil. The filter cartridge comprises a support housing that comprises substantially no metal parts such that the filter cartridge can be readily incinerated. A full flow particulate filter and a bypass particulate filter are arranged in the support housing. A bed of acid neutralizing particles is contained in the support housing. The housing is configured such that a predetermined primary flow path is defined through the filter cartridge that passes through the full flow particulate filter and bypassing the bed of acid neutralizing particles; and a predetermined bypass path is defined through the filter cartridge that passes, in sequence, through the bed of acid neutralizing particles and the bypass particulate filter.

Several filter elements (13, 14) for purifying a liquid are connected with a connecting piece (21) to form a single structural unit which is then arranged in a filter housing (12). One of the advantages of the invention is that the filter elements (13, 14) can be connected before they are introduced into the filter housing (12). This makes the final assembly of the complete filter (11) considerably easier by reducing the number of parts. A method of managing power resources for an electrical system of a vehicle may include identifying enabled power sources from among a plurality of power sources in electrical communication with the electrical system and calculating a threshold power value for the enabled power sources. A total power load placed on the electrical system by one or more power consumers may be measured. If the total power load exceeds the threshold power value, then a determination may be made as to whether one or more additional power sources is available from among the plurality of power sources. At least one of the one or more additional power sources may be enabled, if available.

A bearing lubrication device in a right angle gear reducer includes a gear housing having an interior portion and a lubricating fluid reservoir therein. An oil slinger, rotating pinion shaft, pinion shaft housing, and bearings for supporting the pinion shaft within the pinion shaft housing work together to provide a continuous supply of oil to the bearings. The pinion shaft includes two radially and longitudinally extending passageways therethrough which supply oil from a recess in one end of the pinion shaft to the bearings. Oil is slung from the reservoir into the recess of the rotating pinion shaft where it is forced outwardly and through the passageways to a chamber formed by the rotating pinion shaft, shaft housing and bearings. The roller bearings pump the oil from the chamber back to the fluid reservoir. Oil passageways in the shaft housing enable the return of oil from one bearing set.

An oil supply system for a vehicle includes: a mechanical oil pump driven by an engine; an electric oil pump driven by an electric motor; a hydraulic pressure control circuit supplied with oil from the mechanical oil pump and the electric oil pump through an oil discharge passage for the mechanical oil pump and an oil discharge passage for the electric oil pump, which are connected to each other; a lubrication/cooling oil passage that is supplied with the oil from the hydraulic pressure control circuit; and a communication passage that provides communication between the lubrication/cooling oil passage and the mechanical oil pump. With this oil supply system, it is possible to prevent the electric oil pump from causing air-sucking noise, for example, in the motor-power cruise mode, and to improve the rising characteristics of the hydraulic pressure produced by the mechanical oil pump during startup of the engine.

A lubrication system includes an inlet conduit having an inboard end attached to a bearing support and an outboard end for receiving lubricant. A lubricant inlet assembly is attached to the inlet conduit outboard end and has an inlet cap with a receptacle, an inlet cap body, and a cap base. The inlet receptacle is configured to mate with a lubricant supply line, where the inlet cap body has an outer cap enclosing an inner cap, the outer cap having a convoluted wall. An inlet conduit termination fitting has an outboard fitting section, with an o-ring in a circumferential groove, disposed inside the inlet cap, and an inboard fitting section attached to the inlet conduit outboard end. A cap heat shield encloses the inlet cap and a conduit heat shield is attached to the inlet conduit. The lubricant inlet assembly is mounted to an engine casing with a low-conductivity insulating gasket between the cap base and the engine casing.

A lubrication system for a small lightweight four-stroke engine is disclosed. The lubrication system, provided with a weight at one end of a flexible oil tube inserted into an oil reservoir, is capable of providing a sufficient lubrication to components of the engine which may operate in a horizontal posture, a vertical posture, or any posture therebetween.
