The invention relates to a method and device of data protection. The method of data protection comprises the steps of: detecting movement of a storage media; and disabling the storage media when the storage media moves beyond an acceptable limit. A recording tape cartridge includes a case that comprises an upper case and a lower case and houses a reel around which recording tape is wound. A regulating wall that defines an area in which the reel is housed is formed on the upper case and on the lower case. An attachment member is held between the regulating wall of the upper case and the regulating wall of the lower case so as to be disposed on an outer peripheral surface side of the regulating wall. A tape cleaning drive incapable of transferring data to and from the recording tape media which is independent of the tape drives, the tape cleaning drive disposed entirely within the tape cartridge library. The tape cleaning drive automatically receives one of the tape cartridges and cleans its respective recording tape medium when a predetermined reason for cleaning the tape cartridge is justified.

Further, the leader block 10 has a leader block holder 11; when it is not holding the leader pin at the time of loading the tape cartridge, the leader block 10 is held on to the arm shaft by the leader block holder 11; and after an operation to grab the leader pin, is released from the arm shaft to become freely rotatable by the shift of the leader block holder 11.
