167 results about "Staging area" patented technology

A staging area is a location where organisms, people, vehicles, equipment or material are assembled before use. It may refer to: Designated area where vehicles, supplies, and construction equipment are positioned for access and use to a construction site. Resting and feeding places of migratory birds are referred to as staging areas. Places designated for setting up parades and other elaborate presentations. In military uses, a staging area is a place where troops or equipment in transit are assembled or processed. The US Department of Defense uses these definitions: 1. Amphibious or airborne-A general locality between the mounting area and the objective of an amphibious or airborne expedition, through which the expedition or parts thereof pass after mounting, for refueling, regrouping of ships, and/or exercise, inspection, and redistribution of troops. 2. Other movements-A general locality established for the concentration of troop units and transient personnel between movements over the lines of communications. Also called SA. See also airborne; marshalling; stage; staging.

Systems and methods for optical fiber distribution and management

The preferred embodiments of the present invention include an optical splitter module having connectorized pigtails that are stored on the bulkhead faceplate of the module. The module includes an optical splitter output harness, for example, a ribbon cable assembly attached to the bulkhead with rugged strain relief mechanism. The ribbon harness is converted to individual pigtails with connectors which are stored on adapter receptacles on the faceplate. Adapter receptacles used may optionally be half receptacles when storage is the only desired function or may be full receptacles when access to the pigtail ferrule tip is required. Access to the ferrule tip may be required for attaching fiber optic terminators to eliminate undesirable reflections caused by unterminated connectors. The module provides an administrative location for splitter outputs prior to being connected individually into service. The module also provides an administrative storage location for splitter outputs taken out of service as a temporary staging area before being reassigned and connected individually into service again.

Compliance-based adaptations in managed virtual systems

Techniques are disclosed for controlling and managing virtual machines and other such virtual systems. VM execution approval is based on compliance with policies controlling various aspects of VM. The techniques can be employed to benefit all virtual environments, such as virtual machines, virtual appliances, and virtual applications. For ease of discussion herein, assume that a virtual machine (VM) represents each of these environments. In one particular embodiment, a systems management partition (SMP) is created inside the VM to provide a persistent and resilient storage for management information (e.g., logical and physical VM metadata). The SMP can also be used as a staging area for installing additional content or agentry on the VM when the VM is executed. Remote storage of management information can also be used. The VM management information can then be made available for pre-execution processing, including policy-based compliance testing.

System and method for prefetching uncachable embedded objects

A system and method for prefetching one or more embedded objects marked uncacheable using a staging area on a prefetch cache to temporarily store (load) the uncacheable object. The staging area is a buffer allocated to a socket that is established between a prefetch cache and the server subsequent to the establishment of an initial connection. A prefetch caching process retrieves one or more embedded objects from the server using one or more sockets 145 based on the response sent to the client and a preconfigured set of rules. Additionally, the prefetch caching process determines whether the embedded object is uncacheable. The prefetch caching process then loads the object into the buffer associated with the socket. The prefetch caching process waits a predetermined time period for the cache to receive a client request for the object. If the request is received prior to expiration of the time period, the prefetch caching process sends the object over the socket. Otherwise, the process “flushes” the buffer, thereby discarding the object, and then closes the socket.

Enhanced video programming system and method utilizing a web page staging area

A web page staging area for construction of web pages hidden from view of the user. Once the web page is constructed, it is displayed to the user based upon timer event information or receipt of a particular command instructing that it be displayed. Use of the staging area provides the user with a more television-like experience in viewing content from the Internet or other source in that the user need not view a web page being constructed on a display device. Use of timer event information for displaying the constructed web page permits synchronization of the web page with associated programming.

Methods and systems for automating inventory and dispatch procedures at a staging area

Methods and systems disclosed herein are used to automate inventory and dispatch procedures at a staging area by automatically detecting the arrival or departure of delivery vehicles, container devices and other such items. Detection of these items is facilitated by the use of automatic identification tags, and other such devices, that are physically associated with each such item. According to one aspect of the invention, the detection of inbound vehicles and related container devices triggers a series of automated communications that facilitate the dispatch of such items within the staging area. Additionally, when a delivery vehicle or container device departs, the system can be configured to check the tag or device associated with each such item so as to confirm that the correct container device(s) are associated with the correct outbound delivery vehicle. The system further provides a method of tracking inventories of such items in real time.

HyperLock technique for high-speed network data monitoring

In one embodiment, a network architecture includes a plurality of application monitoring modules for monitoring network traffic data in a plurality of network segments. Network monitoring modules include a staging area that receives network traffic data from a packet capture and analysis engine and an indexing area that stores the data in meta-flow tuples with associated measures divided into time interval buckets. Index tables store dimension-based sorted pointers to the storage locations in the data buckets. HyperLock queries collect time aggregated results for measure based operators with respect to a queried dimension. For each value of the queried dimension, the time interval buckets are traversed compiling a partial result that is finally stored in a stack as the time aggregated value. The stored sorted pointers are used to determine the starting location in each bucket with respect to the next value of the queried dimension.

Dynamically capturing data warehouse population activities for analysis, archival, and mining

A system comprised of trigger mechanisms, a staging area, and an archived warehouse metadata table is used to extract, store, and archive extract, transform, and load (ETL) tasks from operational metadata in a data-warehousing environment. Operational metadata is comprised of ETL information; ETL task execution statuses, run number, definitions, control flow, and execution schedules. Specified ETL information is monitored and captured so that it may be extracted from operational metadata and transformed every time a trigger mechanism activates an update of stored data. Administrator-specified ETL task information is then stored in staging table. At specified intervals a staging table is refreshed with changes in operational data for each of the administrator-specified monitored and captured ETL tasks. Overwritten data, or outdated ETL task information, is then moved and stored in an archived warehouse metadata table. In one embodiment, archives are queried to generate reports analyzing the status of ETL tasks.

Inventory management of products

Inventory management of work-in-process (WIP) inventory within a processing facility is accomplished with a staged holding area in concert with control systems. Receiving of material into the staging area is tracked by scanning mechanisms such as Radio Frequency ID (RFID) or bar coding methods. Aggregation of material is recorded by cart sizing factors into the automatic control system. Carts are stored temporarily in locations arranged in a pre-determined grid fashion. The grid location information for a cart is made known to the automatic control system for reference or reporting to production supervisors. Down-stream processing can request staged inventory material from staging operators via overhead message boards or computer screens. Requests may be by particular types of material or by specific cart grid location. Manual entry or manual release of material is also accommodated including manual corrections of staged materials. Release of entire cart contents to down-stream processing is converted to actual material counts
