Measurement and modeling of salinity contamination of soil and soil-water systems from oil and gas production activities

An analytical framework and modeling process for assessing salinity contamination of soil ecosystems in geographical areas related to oil and gas production sites combines detection and monitoring of unplanned saltwater releases from such production activities with soil impact prediction. The analytical framework and modeling process enables an assessment of risks associated with saltwater disposal from drilling operations to the surrounding environment and the impact on soils, aquifers, rangeland, cropland, and adjoining areas by monitoring water movement and other soil conditions, and generating predictive output data for landowners, farmers, oil and gas production site operators, governmental regulators, and other end users for contamination mitigation and agricultural activities.

Tools and Methods for Range Management

Methods and tool are provided for managing rangeland in a consistent, repeatable and quantitative manner. A geospatial model of the land is created and used to select forage analysis targets and forage analysis routes within the land. Then, forage observation locations are determined from the forage analysis targets. Forage and area limiting attributes are then determined and applied to each forage observation location, and a representative extent of land is associated with each forage observation location. An amount of forage at each forage observation location is measured, and forage inventory is calculated based on the measured forage and relative spatial extent of land associated with each forage observation location. Land use policy may then be established, for grazing, hunting, recreation, and other uses.

Herd Control Method and System

ActiveUS20160295833A1Easily learn how to avoid stimulationMaintain integrityPasturing equipmentTaming and training devicesRangelandHerd
Herd control methods and systems are described that can achieve great benefits over conventional methods when applied to animal and range management. The methods allow much greater animal density than is possible by other means of intensive grazing. A herd can be turned out in a large pasture or unfenced rangeland without dispersal. The herd constantly moves to find new forage and water without the negative consequences of uncontrolled grazing, and fencing can be reduced or eliminated. The methods use devices attached to some or all of a plurality of animals to replicate a herdsman rather than a fence. These herding devices are equipped with components for measuring the distance to neighboring devices. A stimulation component actuated by the processor applies a stimulus, such as a sound or an electric shock, if the animal is too far from the herd.

Seed pillow for overcoming the limiting factors controlling rangeland reseeding success

ActiveUS9326451B1Facilitates seedling establishmentCultivating equipmentsSeed arrangmentsRangelandEarth materials
The disclosure provides compositions and methods to improve seeding success. In an exemplary embodiment the compositions and methods disclosed herein are used to improve seeding success in rangeland areas. However, the compositions and methods are useful to improve seeding success in any environment where seeding is difficult. In an exemplary embodiment, the invention provides a “seed pillow”, a multifunctional seed treatment that mitigates the limiting factors controlling seedling establishment. In one embodiment, the seed pillow comprises a pillow-shaped agglomeration of absorbent earth materials and other additives, with seeds attached within a concave well on the underneath side of the pillow. To increase the probability that the seeds will be covered by the pillow, soil and tackifier are placed with the seeds for increased weight on the seed side of the pillow, and to glue the pillow to the soil. The shape of the pillow is also designed to improve coverage by having a flat bottom and convex top. Upon wetting, the pillow material melts over the seeds, thus providing seed coverage and enhanced conditions for seed germination and growth.

The invention provides a natural alpine grassland reviving period pasturing method which comprises the steps that reviving period pasturing measures are suitable for winter and spring grassland and are generally implemented on medium-light degenerated natural alpine grassland which is good in site condition and does not degenerate or is slightly degenerated, and in order to facilitate livestock management, fence facilities are generally required in reviving period pasturing land parcels; the plants are relatively fragile in a green returning period of pasture in the alpine grassland, so that normal growth of the plants is interfered by grazing, ingestion and trampling in the period, tillering, sprouting and other numbers of elymus nutans are reduced, nutrient substances in the plants are forced to be redistributed, and the yield of the plants is increased. And nutrient substances stored at the roots of the pasture cannot meet the normal growth and development of the pasture and even cannot form normal seeds, so that the coverage of the alpine grassland, the plant height of the pasture and the productivity of the grassland are reduced after pasturing in the reviving period, and the phenomenon can be avoided after pasturing in the reviving period.

Steel-structure beverage stall for rangeland and construction method thereof

The invention discloses a steel-structure beverage stall for a rangeland and a construction method thereof. According to the technical scheme, when a wood floor is relatively humid, a sealing plate ismanually slid upwards until a magnetic part is magnetically attracted by an attraction part, so that the sealing plate is fixed to a transparent plate. At the time, a ventilation gap is in an open state, outdoor airflow flows through the upper surface of the wood floor through the ventilation gap, air drying removal of water on the upper surface of the wood floor is accelerated, the contact timeof the wood floor and the water is shortened, warping and cracking of the wood floor are delayed and prevented, and therefore the advantage of prolonging the service life of the wood floor is realized.
