A method for characterizing image contents automatically or semi-automatically using image acquisition parameters and metadata is presented. The method establishes probabilistic and deterministic relationships between different types of metadata and the semantic attributes and contents of images. It furnishes a mechanism that enables the automatic and semi-automatic classification, annotation, tagging, indexing, searching, identification or retrieval of images based on their contents, semantic properties and metadata characteristics. The method uses, but is not limited to, image capture metadata such as focal length, exposure time, relative aperture, flash information, ISO setting, angle of view, subject distance, timestamp, GPS information as well as other forms of metadata, including but not limited to, captions, keywords, headings, tags, comments, remarks, titles which may be automatically, semi-automatically, or manually generated. The present invention can be applied to image databases, web searching, personal search, community search, broad-based or vertical search engines for internet, intranet, extranet or other usages.

A system and method for collecting data may include a data collection device to obtain the data from a user, an apparatus for obtaining metadata for each word of the data from the user, an apparatus for obtaining a searchable transcript of the data and a device to store the searchable transcript. The metadata may be date data, time data, name data or location data and the data collection device may include a speech recognition engine to translate speech into searchable words. The speech recognition engine may provide a confidence level corresponding to the translation of the speech into searchable words, and the speech recognition engine may distinguish a first user and a second user in order to provide a first searchable transcript for the first user and a second searchable transcript for the second user. An ad transcript may be added to the searchable transcript, and the searchable transcript may be placed in a centralized community search database.

In the present invention, there is provided a computer system (10) for retrieving published content from a social network of users in which each user has connections to one or more other users, and in which the degree of separation between users within the social network is defined as the number of connections required to connect two given users. The system (10) comprises a database (14) for storing a plurality of content assets published by users, each content asset being indexed against one or more users in the network, a network user map (13) stored in memory which, for each user, identifies degrees of separation between that user and other users in the social network, an application interface (12) for receiving an online search request from a first user, a search engine (15) having a system index for identifying one or more stored content assets that match the search request; and a processor for filtering the matching content assets to identify content assets indexed against users within the first user's network user map and generate search results ranked in dependence on the degree of separation between the first user and the user or users associated with the one or more matching content assets.The present invention provides a content searching service allowing users to search for and retrieve stored content according to their personal relationships with other users who are part of their social network. Unlike conventional methods, the present invention does not provide the same content to every user regardless of context, but rather presents the content according to their relationship with the user(s) associated with (indexed against) that content.

Digital Resources Searching and Mining Through Collaborative Judgment and Dynamic Index Evolution

A method is disclosed for a search engine or part of a search engine which utilizes collective intelligence, evaluation, and judgment, including web intelligence, to create and adapt the content of a generalized index hierarchy for digital resources to be searched. Digital resources to be searched can be stored and managed as a localized or distributed repository of images, video, audio, graphical or other multimedia data objects, as well as structured composite items, services, programs, modules, files, documents, systems, applications, networked peers, and agents, which may be difficult or costly to be indexed. In particular embodiments the claimed invention focuses on the indexing of semantic contents and/or pragmatic characteristics of such digital resources. By tracking and analyzing the searching behavior of users, proxies, and/or meta-search-engines, a search index can be created, tuned, improved and optimized. The claimed method in certain embodiments also incorporates an adaptive and evolution mechanism which allows relevant digital resources that may otherwise be overlooked to be found. The claimed invention can be applied to databases, web searching, personal/local search, community search, and broad-based or vertical search engines for internet, intranet, extranet or other uses.

Community search system through network and method thereof

Disclosed is a community search system and method through a network. When a search word is provided by a user through the network, communities with information corresponding to the search word are searched. Reliabilities of the searched communities are estimated. The searched communities can be sequentially arranged according to the estimated reliabilities, or communities having reliability greater than a predetermine value can be selected and provided to the user. According to some embodiments of the present invention, communities that provide reliable contents are searched on the network, and are provided to the user.

The invention discloses a similar user search device based on community search. The device comprises a memory and a processor; the memory stores a user search program which can run in the processor. When the program is executed by the processor, the processor realizes the following steps of constructing an undirected connected graph according to user information in a target social network platform; obtaining a query node set composed of multiple target users with an association relation, wherein the query node set is a subset of a node set in the undirected connected graph; performing iterative operation on the undirected connected graph according to the query node set and a preset community search algorithm, thereby deleting nodes on the undirected connected graph, until a spanning subgraph meeting a second preset condition is obtained after the nodes are deleted; and taking users corresponding to nodes in the spanning subgraph as similar users of the multiple target users. The invention discloses a control method of community search compression modes of broadband code division multiple access systems, which comprises the following steps. According to the technical proposal, central control method is adopted for the community search compression modes. The invention is characterized in that software and hardware resources of the system can be saved; and the invention is applicable for independent operations of search for and measurement of resources in communities.

The auxiliary synchronization code is coded in the time direction. The subcarriers multiplexed with the auxiliary synchronization code are separated from each other and arranged at equal intervals. Also, the number of subcarriers for multiplexing the auxiliary synchronization code can be set to a value smaller than the total number of subcarriers. Auxiliary synchronization codes are orthogonal codes. Cell search is performed by using the S-SCH receiving side of such frequency multiplexing.
