A device and method for effecting movement, responsive to user input, of an object on a graphical display are disclosed. An input device comprises a component for capturing video images, an input image processor that generates an output signal responsive to motion from the video images, and an output image processor that is programmed to effect movement of the object on the graphical display in response to signals received from the input image processor. Various algorithms are employed within the input image processor to determine initial and derivative data that controls the movement of the object on the graphical display. In a preferred embodiment, video images are captured and processed to isolate a human form from a background, arm position and movement data are calculated from the human form and a signal is generated responsive to this data for controlling the movement of an object, such as a bird, on a graphical display. The movement controlled on the graphical display can take the form of a moving object, or of the change of perspective that such an object might undergo, for example, a bird's eye view.

The present invention extends to a blood control catheter valve for use in a catheter adapter. The blood control catheter value employs an actuator for bypassing a septum to open the blood control catheter valve. The actuator includes flexible retention arms positioned on one end which retract into the body of the actuator while the end of the actuator passes through the septum, and then expand outwardly to maintain the actuator positioned within the septum. This design facilitates the manufacturing of catheter adapters (as well as blood control catheter valves and other components that attach to the catheter adapter) because the design can reduce the tolerance requirements of such components. Further, the design provides a reliable blood control catheter valve that does not require the catheter adapter to be increased in size to accommodate the valve.

A control system for determining a position of an implement arm having a work implement is disclosed. The implement arm includes mating components connected by at least one joint. The control system includes at least one position sensor operably associated with the implement arm and configured to sense positional aspects of the implement arm. It also includes at least one load sensor operably associated with the implement arm, and configured to sense the direction of loads applied to the at least one joint. A controller is adapted to calculate a position of the implement arm based on signals received from the at least one position and load sensor. The calculated position takes into account shifting of the implement arm caused by clearances existing at the at least one joint between the mating components of the implement arm.

With the stored rxless torque value representative of toggle points of the crank arm during an initial calibration pumping cycle, the controller further is configured to continuously sample the rxless torque value of the system and determine the crank arm position in relation to the sample rxless torque value. The controller adjusts the pumping system for optimal operations, without a crank arm position sensor during production pumping by identifying a toggle point and setting the crank arm position estimate equal to the value corresponding to the crank position at the identified toggle point.
