User interface for application transfers

Methods, systems and machine readable tangible storage media that provide a user interface to an application store. In one embodiment, an icon representing an application being transferred to a user device appears to fly across the display area during the download and installation of the application before landing on a dock or other program control area from which the application can subsequently be launched. The user device synchronizes the flight of the icon with the progress of the download and installation by tracking the progress in communication with the server from which the application was transferred. The appearance of flight can be both vertical and horizontal and the icon bounces after the download and installation is complete conveying to the user that the application is ready to launch. The appearances of the locations from which the icon begins and ends its journey are changed to enhance the simulation of flight. Other embodiments are also described.

Method and apparatus to indicate prior use of a medical item

The present invention monitors an IV bag injection port and informs the user of prior injections. The present invention employs an object and / or a sealed chamber within a transparent IV fluid bag injection port. In the case of the object, notification of prior use is achieved when the object's or IV fluid's appearance is altered. With respect to the sealed chamber, the chamber's seal is breached to allow fluid to pass between the chamber and the IV bag to change the appearance of the contents of the chamber. Since the injection port and bag walls are at least partially transparent, medical personnel are able to observe the altered appearance of either the object, IV fluid or the sealed chamber.

Prosthetic limb with replaceable fairing

A prosthetic limb has an outer surface that is a mirror image of an intact limb. The intact limb is scanned and the surface data is manipulated to create a virtual mirror image. The end of the amputated limb is also scanned to obtain socket data. A virtual limb is designed using a computer program based upon the mirror image and end of the amputated limb data. The computer program is also used to design a removable fairing that provides color and texture to the prosthetic limb.

A molded running board is fabricated from a moldable material such as thermoplastic or the like and includes a main body with a lower surface, having a stiffening structure, and an upper surface to which one or more trim pieces can be attached. The main body has at least two mount members which are metal inserts molded in place with the main body, the mount members including a portion which extends beyond the main body for use to attach the running board to a vehicle. By altering the finish of the main body and / or the trim pieces, a wide variety of cosmetic appearances of the running board can be obtained without requiring different molds for the main body. Also, by standardizing the location and configuration of the portion of the mount members, the running board can be attached to different vehicles by employing suitable adaptor hardware to connect the mount members to the vehicle, again without requiring different molds for the main body.

Modular Engine Cover

An engine cover for a vehicle includes a frame extending generally about the perimeter of the cover and adapted for mounting to an engine of the vehicle, and a skin extending across and secured to the frame. In one embodiment, the frame is made of a moulded plastic material and the skin is a stamped metal, such as aluminum. In another embodiment, the skin comprises multiple sections each secured to the frame so that one or more sections may be modified to alter the appearance of the cover and / or location of service items, such as an oil fill cap or dip stick for different applications while minimizing the number of components that need modification. A method for covering an engine according to the present invention includes securing at least one engine cover skin to an engine cover frame and securing the frame to an engine.

Modular Furniture System

A modular furniture system comprises a frame adapted to define a plurality of engagement sites and a plurality of components removably engagable to the frame at the plurality of engagement sites to define a piece of furniture. Each component is engagable to the frame at different positions thereon to facilitate a change in shape of the piece of furniture by rearrangement of the plurality of components relative to one another. The plurality of components are shaped and sized to be groupable together into a storage configuration when not engaged to the frame. In the storage configuration, the components are enclosable in a rectangular volume of lesser size than when engaged to the frame. Each component comprises a core body and a removable cover that shrouds the core with the plurality of components engaged to the base.
