Lock and release mechanism of child resistant unit dose package

A lock and release mechanism of a unit dose package has a cut away formed in the second panel of an outer sleeve of the package, the cut away having a pair of legs extending therefrom and defining a node therebetween. A cut line and a throat region are formed in an end flap of first and second side panels, respectively, of a slide card to bifurcate each end flap into first and second engaging segments. The first and second engaging segments engage an engaging surface of a cut away formed in a second panel of the outer sleeve to prevent the slide card from unintentionally sliding within the outer sleeve. A release feature is formed in the third panel of the outer sleeve. The first and second engaging segments are disengaged from the engaging surface of the cut away by depressing the node via the release feature.

Childproof packaging (10) for a product such as matches or pharmaceutical tablets includes a sleeve (12) and a container (14) for the product within the sleeve. The package includes two pairs of latches, (20-38-42, 22-40-44) with each latch of a pair oppositely located on the package. A user must use both hands simultaneously, with a respective hand operating a respective pair of latches, to hold the latches in an unlatched condition and also simultaneously to apply pressure to the container (14) to slide it outwardly relatively to the sleeve (12). Such a two-handed, five finger operation to open the package (10) requires a dexterity that is easy for adults but very difficult for children. Each latch may be a spring arm (42, 44) mounted tab or button (38, 40) which seats in an aperture (20, 22) in the sleeve (12).

Packaging system with an improved inner structure

A package includes a slide card that is received in an outer sleeve having a false end wall. The false end wall extends between a top wall and a bottom wall to enhance the structural integrity of the outer sleeve. The false end wall provides child resistance in that it prevents a user from manipulating the outer sleeve to inadvertently disengage a locking feature that lockably retains a slide card in the outer sleeve. The false end wall also prevents a user from accessing the slide card through an opening that is created by removing an end wall.

Packaging system with an improved lock and release mechanism

A package includes a slide card that can be releasably locked in an outer sleeve. The slide card includes an engaging tab that provides part of a locking mechanism that is used to lock the slide card in the outer sleeve. A support element is positioned and secured to the slide card to maintain the resilience of the slide card at a hinged connection between the engaging tab and a base panel along a fold line. The support element is dimensioned and positioned to define a minimum angle between the engaging tab and the base panel. Thereby, the resiliency of the slide card is not compromised as the engaging tab is repeatedly folded or depressed toward the base panel.

A product delivery and / or dispensing system is realized by providing a housing or holding zone constructed for securely retaining any desired product or item which a user or gift-giver wishes to be delivered or dispensed with the housing or holding zone being automatically activated or moved from a first, fully retained position into a second, outwardly extending position whenever a slider panel is moved in a direction which is opposite from the direction of the movement of the housing or holding zone. By moving the slider in a first direction, the housing or holding zone moves in an opposite direction, typically to the surprise and excitement of the user. Furthermore, the slider is constructed to enable any desired information to be placed thereon thereby allowing a particular message or product information to be communicated to the user.

Confidentiality Packaging System

A packaging system uses marked, specially designed packaging to enable confidential purchasing of consumer goods. Products having a first configuration normally labeled for sale are convertible into a second configuration which conceals the identity of the goods, other than perhaps having a confidentiality brand. The confidentiality package is bar-coded for price and purchase scanning but does not identify the type of good(s) being purchased either at the cash register or on the customer's receipt. The confidentially packaged items, which could be marketed under a YOURS CONFIDENTIALLY brand name, for instance, are primarily sold at a retail location immediately next to a normally marked, identical (except for the outer packaging shell) item, and have a brief description of what the item is directly under it (Tampons for example) located in the shelf strip next to the re-order shelf tag.
