Flexible RF seal for coax cable connector

The present invention incorporates a flexible RF seal into the ground face of a typical connector. The seal comprises a flexible brim, a transition band, and tubular insert with a insert chamber defined within the seal. In a first embodiment the flexible brim is angled away from the insert chamber, and in a second embodiment the flexible brim is angled inward toward the insert chamber. A flange end of the seal makes a compliant contact between the port and connector faces when the nut of a connector is partially tightened, and becomes sandwiched firmly between the ground surfaces when the nut is properly tightened. The present invention allows the connector to make a uniform RF seal on a port even with a range of tightening torques.

Fluorescent light and motion detector with quick plug release and troubleshooting capabilities

An energy saving fluorescent light fixture for small confined areas predominant in residential settings, having a motion detector with a quick plug connector capable of attaching and detaching the detector from the light fixture base. Additional trouble-shooting capabilities are provided by dedicated electronic circuitry and LED display indicators. The LED display indicators signal a nontechnical consumer when maintenance is required, and isolate the failures to the sub-system level, i.e., the detector or fixture base circuitry. The detector is attached through the quick plug connector and concurrently supported by either an elbow joint with rigid wire supporting segments, a flexible arm, or a ball-swivel joint with rigid wire supporting segment. The supporting means enables the user to control the sensor viewing area. A simplified trouble-shooting method enabling the user to use the LED display indicators and quick plug connector facilitates sub-system replacement by nontechnical operators.

Insertion Set for a Transcutaneous Sensor

An improved insertion set is provided for transcutaneous placement of a sensor such as a glucose sensor at a selected site within the body of a patient. The insertion set comprises a mounting base defining an upwardly open channel for receiving and supporting a flexible thin film sensor, in combination with a cap assembled with said mounting base to capture and retain a proximal end of the sensor within said channel. The sensor further includes a distal segment with sensor electrodes thereon which protrudes from the mounting base for transcutaneous placement, wherein the sensor distal segment is slidably carried by a slotted insertion needle fitted through the assembled base and cap. Placement of the insertion set against the patient's skin causes the insertion needle to pierce the skin to carry the sensor electrodes to the desired subcutaneous site, after which the insertion needle can be slidably withdrawn from the insertion set. The mounting base further includes a fitting and related snap latch members for mated slide-fit releasable coupling of conductive contact pads on a proximal end of the sensor to a cable connector for transmitting sensor signals to a suitable monitoring device.
