315 results about "Downspout" patented technology

A downspout, waterspout, downpipe, drain spout, roof drain pipe, leader is a pipe for carrying rainwater from a rain gutter. Downspouts are usually vertical and usually extend down to ground level. There is generally a bend of 70 degrees at the bottom. The water is directed away from the building's foundation, to protect the foundations from water damage. The water is usually piped to a sewer, or let into the ground through seepage.

Apparatus and method for protecting a downspout of a gutter

An apparatus and method provides for protecting a downspout elbow or extension of a rain gutter from suffering and inflicting harm. The apparatus has a protective outer surface to guard against one or more sharp edges or surfaces of the downspout elbow or extension from suffering or inflicting harm. Methods of protecting the downspout elbow or extension include at least elastically deforming, sliding, rolling, or inverting a portion or all of the apparatus onto the opening and adjacent portions of the downspout elbow or extension.

Self-deploying funnel

A funnel assembly includes a collapsible funnel mounted to a base. The funnel is formed by consecutive windings of spring steel wire. Each winding has a reduced diameter so that the windings collectively form a funnel having a conical shape and an inherent bias. The funnel is confined into a relatively small storage space and the funnel is compressed when a cap releasably engages the base. Upon disengaging the cap from the base, the bias unloads and fully deploys the funnel. A downspout depends from the base and engages the fill spout of an oil crankcase so that the funnel assembly is mounted to the fill spout. A user therefore does not hold the funnel assembly while pouring oil from a can into the deployed funnel. By holding the base in one hand and the cap in the other, a user may deploy the funnel and return it to storage without touching the funnel.

Handmade Structure System

A system of prefabricated modular components, designed to fit and connect together using no tools other than human hands, allowing persons with little or no construction experience to assemble floored / partitioned / roofed structures of variable shape and surface area. Flooring panels are inserted and secured into flooring frames that have been inserted and secured into frame connectors. Flooring frames may be anchored into an outdoor installation surface for long term use. Certain configurations of the frame connector allow for the installation of variable height partition supports, as well as partition panels. A special configuration of the flooring frame allows for wheeled implement / conveyance access to the floored surface from the surrounding surface. Open, unfloored areas may be created within the periphery of a structure. Roof Panels are installed onto and supported by Roof Brackets, Roof Beams and Integrated Gutter Sections. Precipitation is conveyed to Downspout Pipes and Fittings via Downspouts.

Gutter foam filter

The gutter foam filter elements are generally triangular, four-foot lengths of flexible plastic open-cell foam material placed in and extending the full length of a conventional “K” type or similar roof gutter. The foam filter elements may be inserted within the gutter below gutter spikes. The foam material is an open pore polyether foam of 10-20 cells per square inch which allows rainwater to travel through the filter while excluding leaves. The foam is generally in the form of a right triangle and so disposed in the gutter as to have one side extending along the back of the gutter and the other side of the triangle extending between the across the upper open portion of the gutter. The sloped wall defines a void in the lower front portion of the gutter for rainwater flow to a downspout. The lower corner of the element is truncated forming a lower support wall.

Diversion system and method

Methods are provided for installation of a rain diversion system including formation of a deflector with a machine placed above a forming machine dedicated to formation of a trough. As trough is run from a first machine, end caps are installed where appropriate, outlet sites are punched and outlets installed for joinder with downspouts, miters are cut and a cavity structure of the hanger is brought into place to mate a containment lip of the hanger with the containment shelf of the trough. Corresponding deflector is run from a second machine and the deflector is placed on the trough as deflector attachment cavities of the hanger are used to retain deflector. In alternative methods, one cavity retains the deflector 40 for conveyance to the installation location on the structure. In either case, the entire assembly may then be transported to a location on a lower level such as ground, for example, corresponding to the eventual installation location on the structure. The process is repeated until all assemblies of trough, hangers and deflector have been processed. Installers are then employed on ladders or other riser to position each length of assembled trough, hangers, and deflector into place against the structure where the assembly is fastened into place in at least two locations. This is simplified by the disclosed feature that allows compression fitting of the deflector into the appropriate cavities of the hanger.

Apparatus for Harvesting Rainwater

A rainwater collection apparatus is formed with an outer sleeve member that is adapted to connect with upper and lower downspout portions, and with an internal colander that is operable to collect and filter the rainwater flowing through the upper downspout portion. The colander has an upper flanged edge that removes water flowing along the inside surface of the downspout, a filter area including a plurality of apertures for the passage of rainwater into a catch basin, and a support flange that rests on a base ledge formed on the outer sleeve to define the catch basin. A discharge spout drains the collected rainwater from the catch basin to a remote storage container. An internal opening in the colander allows the passage of debris and the overflow of rainwater from the catch basin through apertures in the colander for discharge through the lower downspout portion.

Gutter emptying system

This invention permits use of a conventional rain gutter system and downspout, and other gutter profiles as described to be converted into a dumpable rain gutter system which can be easily cleaned. This low profile gutter tilting system, which has few moving parts, low noise level, and no unsightly housing or exposed parts, comprises a plurality of gutter supports. This system uses air or liquid as a means to activate a rotating mechanism concealed inside the supports to pivot the gutter about a common point, as to empty any debris not normally washed out of a downspout or gutter system. The system includes, in general an OG type gutter, and a gutter support, which mounts to a building facia or trim board. The gutter supports include a hinge where a first free end is connected to the back bottom edge of a gutter, and a second free end of the hinge is connected to a stationary housing that mounts to the facia board and supports a gutter. The front bottom edge is pivotally connected to the stationary housing. An inflatable device in the stationary housing is placed between the hinge and the stationary housing to pivot the hinge, thereby lifting the rear of the gutter due to the front edge being pivotally connected to the stationary housing until the hinge is fully open, emptying the gutter of debris. A weight is affixed to the first free end of the hinge whereby the gutter, after emptying, will be partially retracted to it's water and debris collecting position by the resiliency of the inflatable device or bladder, and fully retracted by the pull of the weight, and or the vacuum created by the drainage of liquid from the system when a liquid is used as the inflatable means.

Apparatus for the collection of rainwater from a downpipe

A pipe of diameter significantly less than that of the downpipe is inserted up from the bottom of the downpipe and extends up the inside of the downpipe. The upper face of this inner tube is sealed so that water does not pour into its end. The wall of the inner tube is perforated so that water can flow into it from the sides as and when the downpipe fills with water to that level. The other end of this tube is in communication with the water butt allowing the water to flow from the downpipe to the water butt until the levels equalize or that in the downpipe falls below the level of said perforations.
