The date and time span specifying when an activity or event began and ended.

Synchronization of databases with record sanitizing and intelligent comparison

A method of synchronizing at least a first and a second database each containing dated records such as events, wherein the records of the first and second databases are synchronized across a narrow date range narrower than the date range of the records of at least one of the databases. A prior synchronization can be performed across a prior date range. The date range of the prior synchronization is stored, along with the history file containing information representative of the content of the databases following the prior synchronization. When a current synchronization is performed, it is performed across a date range that combines the prior date range with the current date range.

System and method for generating attribute-based selectable search extension

A system and related techniques generate alternative search terms derived from a set of search results. A user may input a set of search terms such as keywords or other inputs, and receive a set of search results back, for instance in rank order of estimated relevance to the user's search terms and search intention. In addition to the hyperlink or other results may have associated with them a set of selectable alternative search links, for instance indicating “show me more with titles like this” when for instance a Web page title contains the user's search terms. Other results may present other attributes, depending on the evaluated distinctiveness potential alternative information content of attributes of that Web page or other result, which attributes may further include, for example, the presence of image files, PDF™ files, audio or video files or attachments, Web pages or other hits indicating certain date ranges, or other attributes or characteristics. In embodiments an attribute or attribute of a result may be assessed for inclusion as an alternative search attributes or limiter based on the attribute's deviation in an attribute space from an average of the attributes of the original set of search results, or otherwise. A user may click or otherwise select the alternative search suggestion, for instance indicating “show me more PDFs” and be presented with an updated set of search results containing Web pages or other hits, links or results each of which is, contains or has attached a file or content of that type. Users may thus receive categories of search results more closely aligned with their search intent when characteristic attributes may be a factor in desired content.

Image display apparatus and method and image management program

Date and time information concerning image files included in the folder is obtained, a time range from the oldest image to the newest image is calculated, and the time range is displayed with folder information. For example, data on shot dates and times recorded as associated information concerning the images or time stamps of the files are used to calculate the time range, and the date range is displayed on a folder icon or on a tab portion of the folder icon. Moreover, a file list displayed last time is stored, the stored file list is compared with a current file list, and only if the both file lists are different from each other, the date and time information is obtained for a different file to recalculate the time range. Thus, the user can infer images included in the folder to some extent and easily retrieve a desired image.

Modeling loss in a term structured financial portfolio

InactiveUS20060195391A1Increase flexibilityIncreases empiricismFinanceRisk profilingHorizon
In accordance with the principles of the present invention, an apparatus, simulation method, and system for modeling loss in a term structured financial portfolio are provided. An historical date range, time unit specification, maturity duration, evaluation horizon, random effects specification, and set of portfolio covariates are selected. Historical data is then segmented into infinitely many cumulative loss curves according to a selected covariate predictive of risk. The s-shaped curves are modeled according to a nonlinear kernel. Nonlinear kernel parameters are regressed against time units up to the maturity duration and against selected portfolio covariates. The final regression equations represent the central moment models necessary for prior distribution specification in the hierarchical Bayes model to follow. Once the hierarchical Bayes model is executed, the finite samples generated by a Metropolis-Hastings within Gibbs sampling routine enable the inference of net dollar loss estimation and corresponding variance. In turn, the posterior distributions enable the risk analysis corresponding to lifetime loss estimates for routine risk management, the valuation of derivative financial instruments, risk-based pricing for secondary markets or new debt obligations, optimal holdings, and regulatory capital requirements. Posterior distributions and analytical results are dynamically processed and shared with other computers in a global network configuration.

Systems, methods, and computer program products for searching and displaying low cost product availability information for a given departure-return date combination or range of departure-return date combinations

The present invention generates a grid of low-priced fare combinations for either a selected departure and return date or a range of departure and return dates. The present invention uses various techniques to reduce processing and delay in generating the grids. The present invention first converts flight itineraries for the selected departure and return dates or the range of dates into the fare domain. The invention discards fare combinations that are not valid for the given travel request. The valid fare combinations are processed to determine which has the lowest fare price. The fare combinations are processed one at a time starting with the cheapest fare combination to determine which of the possible flight itineraries may be covered by the fare combination. The invention may use additional prunning steps to validate the fare combinations prior to application to individual flight itineraries. As each fare combination is matched to a flight itinerary, the grid is populated with this fare combination.
