The invention discloses a deinterlacing method based on edge self adaption. The method solves a problem, which exist in the prior art, that calculation amount is increased to ensure accuracy of edge directions so that technical effects that not only accuracy of edge directions and an interpolation result are ensured but also the calculation amount is reduced are realized. The method includes: receiving brightness values of a first group of pixels at a previous line of a pixel to be interpolated and a second group of pixels at a following line of the pixel to be interpolated; determining marginalities of the first group of pixels and the second group of pixels according to the brightness values; determining pixel pairs with the same marginality in the first group of pixels and the second group of pixels; calculating correlation values in directions of the pixel pairs with the same marginality; comparing the correlation values and selecting a pixel pair corresponding to the smallest correlation value as an edge direction; and performing self-adaptive interpolation on the determined edge direction and determining brightness of the pixel to be interpolated.

A method for reconstructing a color image from a sensor which comprises a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix of rows and columns is provided. The sensor is provided with a color filter array such that each pixel corresponds to one of three basic colors. The three basic colors are provided on the sensor in a predetermined pattern. The sensor outputs a detected value for each of the plurality of pixels. The method comprises the steps: for each of the plurality of pixels: accepting a detected value obtained for the corresponding one of the three basic colors and, for each of the respective two other basic colors, calculating a vertical interpolation value and a horizontal interpolation value and selecting either the vertical interpolation value or the horizontal interpolation value; outputting the accepted detected value and the selected interpolation values. The vertical interpolation and the horizontal interpolation are calculated based on the detected values for pixels in a 5×5 pixel environment around the respective pixel.
