A difference value between a pixel parameter of a pixel and the pixel parameter of one or more neighboring pixels is determined. Each pixel is then classified into a category based on the difference value. A standard deviation value of a Gaussian filter for each pixel is calculated based on the category. A window size for Gaussian filtering the pixel is estimated using the standard deviation value. Each pixel is then filtered using the standard deviation value and the window size.
