Quick lock release system for parking meter vaults

A parking meter has a vault housing and a vault door removably covering a main opening and having a back facing an interior of the housing. A lock assembly includes a lock cylinder disposed on the door and that has a body and a usually movable portion. A bolting mechanism operatively connects to the movable portion of the lock cylinder for selectively providing a locked position. A support structure is disposed on the interior side of the door and holds the bolting mechanism. A removable retainer engages the body of the lock cylinder, which is usually stationary. This results in the retainer preventing motion of the body sufficient to operate the bolting mechanism. The support structure is configured for releasably maintaining the retainer on the lock cylinder body. The vault housing defines a tool hole providing access to the interior of the housing for insertion of a disengagement tool through the tool hole. The retainer has a portion configured for connecting to the disengagement tool and is configured so that retracting the disengagement tool while connected to the retainer provides enough disengagement from the lock cylinder body to permit motion of the lock cylinder body to operate the bolting mechanism when the movable portion will not move relative to the body.

Electronic access control handle set for a door lock

The present invention provides for a handle set for a lock with a latch, the handle set having an authentication circuit and actuator in the interior handle that allow access to authenticated transponders. The present invention also provides a device and method for transmitting a rotational movement and force in an electronic lock, wherein the transmission takes place in a coupled state and not in a decoupled state and wherein the transmission of force does not damage an actuator that requires little energy to change between the coupled and decoupled states. A coupling cartridge of an electronic lock can easily be handed. The electronic lock can be retrofitted in installed mortise locks and used with cylindrical locks. The electronic lock can include a security feature that prohibits the electronic lock from changing between the coupled and decoupled states.

High security cylinder lock and key

A cylinder lock includes a shell and a plug inside the shell. A locking pin, a sensor pin and a flexible coupling are mounted within the plug. The sensor pin moves the flexible coupling and the coupling moves the locking pin to an unlocked position when the correct key is inserted into a key slot in the plug. The key includes a locking pin receiving notch, to allow the locking pin to move to the unlocked position. The key also includes a contact surface that moves the sensor pin and thereby moves the locking pin to the unlocked position through the flexible coupling. When an incorrect key, without the locking pin receiving notch, is inserted, the flexibility of the flexible coupling allows the sensor pin to move without moving the locking pin. The cylinder lock may also include conventional pin tumblers. The receiving notch of the key may be provided with an alignment surface that cooperates with the locking pin to control the depth the key is inserted into the lock and allow keys of varying length to align relative to the pin tumblers of the cylinder lock.

Electromechanical cylinder lock

An electromechanical cylinder lock includes an outer lock shell and a rotatable lock barrel located therein which is controlled by dual locking features. A side bar or fence selectively blocks and permits rotation of the barrel with respect to the shell in response to insertion of a key into a keyway in the barrel. A slider bar is movable between a blocking position in which the side bar is prevented from permitting rotation of the barrel, and an unblocking position in which the side bar permits rotation of the barrel. Alternately, a blocking mechanism is provided to block motion of tumbler pins in the cylinder lock. A shape memory alloy actuator, such as a wire made of NITINOL disposed in the barrel is activated by an electric current in response to determination by an electronic control device whether an attempt to open the lock is authorized. Thermal interlock protection from external heating of the lock is also provided.

Non-volatile memory with redundancy data buffered in remote buffer circuits

ActiveUS20070220935A1High resolutionEfficient utilization of redundantDigital storageLock casingsGranularityComputer science
A memory has defective locations in its user portion replaceable by redundant locations in a redundant portion. Data latches in column circuits of user and redundant portions allow data sensed from or to be written to a memory to be exchanged with a data bus. A remote redundancy scheme has the redundant data available from a central buffer accessible by any number of column circuits. Redundant data buffer circuits enable bus exchange with data from the user data latches except for defective locations when data are taken from the central buffer. In this way only addressing for the user portion is used for bus exchange. Also, accessibility to the redundant data will not be restricted by the locations of the column circuits relative to the redundant data latches and the buffered redundant data can be accessed at a finer granularity than that imposed by the column circuits.
