Data transfer system, data transfer program and video server system

A data transfer system transfers original data from a first data storage device to a second data storage device. The transfer system includes a compressor, an encryptor, and a controller. The compressor receives the original data from the first data storage device, generates compressed data of a smaller size, and passes the compressed data to the second data storage device. The encryptor makes a predetermined cryptographic key and passes the key to the second data storage device. The encryptor also receives the original data from the first data storage device, encrypts the original data with the cryptographic key and then sends the encrypted data back to the first data storage device. The controller controls the compressor and the encryptor and gives the first data storage device a first erase instruction, telling the first data storage device to erase the original data, in accordance with a first transfer command.

Methods, systems, and computer program products for reporting fru failures in storage device enclosures

Monitoring a plurality of field-replaceable units (FRUs) in an enclosure using two or more microcontroller-equipped power supplies to detect an FRU failure. Upon detection of an FRU failure, a first signal indicative of the failure is communicated from at least one of the microcontroller-equipped power supplies to one or more small computer system interface (SCSI) repeaters over an I2C bus. The one or more SCSI repeaters report a second signal indicative of the failure to one or more central electronics complexes (CECs) over one or more SCSI busses. The first signal may, but need not, be substantially identical to the second signal.

Recording apparatus and mount control method

The present invention prevents data stored in memory cards from being damaged while maintaining the operability of inserting and ejecting memory cards. A device has a connection section to which a memory card 11 is connected. The memory card 11 is different from an optical disc 10 on which image data are recorded. The device checks whether the memory card 11 is connected to the connection section. When the device starts performing certain processes to the memory card 11 after detecting that the memory card 11 is connected, the device performs mount processes. When the device stops performing the certain processes, the device immediately performs unmount processes to the memory card 11. The memory card 11 is unmounted while the device is not performing the certain processes. Unmounting the memory card 11 prevents data stored in the memory card 11 from being damaged even if a user accidentally ejects it.

Controller to be connected to IEEE 1394 serial bus

A controller to be connected via an IEEE 1394 serial bus to two or more hard disk recorders. When a user selects an attribute of program files to be deleted by using an operation unit, a microprocessor in the controller searches for program files corresponding to the attribute, which is selected by the user via the operation unit, among program files stored in any of the hard disk recorders. When program files corresponding to the selected attribute are found as a result of the search, the microprocessor creates a list of the program files corresponding to the selected attribute based on the result of the search. Then, the microprocessor sends a control command to delete each of the program files in the list from a hard disk recorder on which the each program file is stored via an IEEE 1394 interface to the hard disk recorder. Accordingly, the program files in the list are deleted from the hard disk recorders on which the program files are stored.
