31 results about "Simultaneous voice and data" patented technology

In telecommunications, a system that supports simultaneous voice and data (SVD) is one that can transceive both voice and primary data concurrently over one PSTN modem.

Cellular simultaneous voice and data including digital simultaneous voice and data (DSVD) interwork

A system and method of simultaneously conducting a data transfer and a voice call between a mobile station and a radio telecommunications network having a mobile switching center (MSC) which serves the mobile station. A first embodiment includes a landline digital simultaneous voice and data (DSVD) modem associated with the mobile station which generates DSVD source signal and line negotiation protocols. The DSVD source signal and line negotiation protocols are encapsulated into circuit mode Radio Link Protocol (RLP) signals and transmitted to the MSC. An interworking function (IWF) associated with the MSC translates the circuit mode RLP signals into signals in a landline telecommunications protocol. In another embodiment, the voice call is carried over the air interface from the mobile station to the network in one timeslot, and the data transfer is carried in at least one additional timeslot on the same voice channel. In other embodiments, two voice channels may be allocated to the same mobile station. The voice call to a first party is carried from the mobile station to the network on one voice channel, and the data transfer to the first or a second party is carried on the second voice channel. The MSC hands off the two voice channels together, but releases them individually when either the voice call or the data transfer is completed.

Simultaneous voice and data modem

Simultaneous transmission of voice and data over the voice channel of a wireless communications network, such as a “cell phone” network, is reconfigurable on the fly among multiple operating modes, including a lull detection mode in which data is transferred during a lull or quiet period in the voice content. Additionally, control signaling in the voice channel, rather than over a separate control or “overhead” channel is employed to support SVD. The described system operates transparently over any wireless telecommunications system.

Multipoint simultaneous voice and data services using a media splitter gateway architecture

A gateway enables point to multipoint connectivity from voice, data, or SVD clients over voice and data networks. The gateway connects one or more known voice networks (e.g. telephone networks) and one or more data networks (e.g. LANs, WANs, and internet) so that clients on either network may access any of the networks via various devices like analog telephones, data modems, SVD modems, or direct data network connections (e.g., ethernet, token ring). The gateway has connections to both the data network(s) as well as the voice network(s). The gateway is capable of splitting a signal with both voice and data streams and routing either and / or both of these streams over the voice network alone, the data network, or both. A process, executing on the gateway enables the gateway to establish connections on gateway paths and to control and direct a flow of voice and data information between the destinations on these networks.

Simultaneous voice and data communication over a wireless network

A system, method and computer readable medium for communicating data over a voice channel on a wireless device (300) is disclosed. The method on a wireless device (300) includes establishing an audio connection with a second device and providing an interface (326) for a user for sending data to the second device. The method further includes detecting the activation of the interface (326) by the user and sending a first data to the second device during the audio connection with the second device, wherein the quality of the audio connection is not affected by the sending. The method further includes receiving a second data from the second device, the second data being associated with the first data and preferably synchronizing the first data with the second data. Information, such as Vcard information, can be wirelessly exchanged between devices communicating data over a voice channel during an audio connection.

Vehicle tracking and security system incorporating simultaneous voice and data communication

A system which tracks and monitors a vehicle by utilizing cellular communication componentry and global positioning system componentry is disclosed. The system provides for simultaneous and continuous transmission of a voice signal and location data to a monitoring center. The monitoring center comprises componentry to communicate with the vehicle and determine the vehicle's location on a digitized map using a computer.

Method and apparatus for handover in a mobile station supporting radio access technology

A method and apparatus supports Inter-Radio Access Technology (IRAT) Packet Switch (PS) handover during a simultaneous voice and data (SVD) mode in a mobile station that supports a Radio Access Technology (RAT). The method includes determining a state in which a data call is connected through a first system and a voice call is connected through a second system. The MS determines whether handover to the second system should be performed for the data call. A measurement report message that indicates a set of active base stations (BSs) of voice call connection in the second system is generated. And the measurement report message is transmitted to a serving BS of the data call connection in the first system.

Simultaneous voice and data for dual-SIM-dual-standby (DSDS) wireless device

Methods, systems and devices are provided for controlling a communication device. Embodiments include receiving, through the transceiver, a voice call from a first network subscription associated with a first SIM of the communication device. The voice call may interrupt an active data services session through the transceiver with a second network subscription associated with a second SIM of the communication device. Also, embodiments include establishing an active voice communication connection for the voice call on the transceiver with the first network subscription. Additionally, reestablishing the active data services session through the transceiver with the first network subscription is performed while maintaining the active voice communication connection for the voice call with the first network subscription.
