System and process for presenting search results in a histogram/cluster format

A user interface system and process for graphically displaying the results of a standard search, such as a database search, to a user on a display device via an interactive search results window in which the user views and filters search results items. These results can be presented in either a cluster or histogram format, or both. This allows the user to visualize the results graphically, rather than just displaying a list of the items found. In addition the presentation of the search results can be graphically manipulated to easily filter the results as desired by the user.

Data entry for personal computing devices

In one aspect of the present invention the user can rapidly enter and search for text using a data entry system through a combination of entering one or more characters on a digitally displayed keyboard with a pointing device and using a search list to obtain a list of completion candidates. The user can activate the search list to obtain a list of completion candidates at any time while entering a partial text entry with the data entry system. When the search list is active, a list of completion candidates is displayed on a graphical user interface for the user to select from and the user can perform one of several actions. The user can deactivate the search list and return to modifying the current partial text entry and other text. The user can select one of the completion candidates in the search list and use the selected completion candidate to replace the partial text entry which the user is currently entering. When the user deactivates the interactive search list, the user can immediately continue adding to or modifying the current partial text entry being entered, and may re-invoke the search list to further search for completion candidates based on the modified partial text entry. In the second case, the selected completion candidate is used to replace the partial text entry that the user is currently entering, and the data entry system begins monitoring for a new partial text entry from the user.

Method and system for situation tracking and notification

Alerts (13) are generated at mobile entity devices (12) and servers (16). The alerts are examined at the servers and handled by the server and / or forwarded to a clearing house (22). At the clearing house, emergency events (40) are created in response to the alerts by an event module (36). A notify module (38) compares events to an information need (304) associated with a subscriber profile (46) to determine whether a subscriber associated with the subscriber profile should be notified about events. The notify module also handles interactive search requests from a client (20) for the events.

Internet search engine with interactive search criteria construction

A method and system for searching a document source. The method includes analyzing a query and then creating a query pattern. A document is search in a document source which match the query pattern. The retrieved documents are divided into subsets of similar documents, where each subset of the subsets of similar documents is described in terms of a subset pattern. An ordered list of clusters based on the subset pattern of each subset of similar documents is then retrieved. The ordered list of clusters includes separate clusters which contain similar documents retrieved in response to the query. A machine readable medium containing code for searching a document source is also provided.

Graphical user interface with a hide/show feature for a reference system in an insurance claims processing system

An improved method and system for providing context-sensitive help and interactive search capability in an insurance claims processing system. A help information database may include one or more index tables, one or more header tables and one or more text tables. In one embodiment, the context-sensitive help for a step in processing an insurance claim may be automatically invoked when entering the step. Alternatively, the user may interactively invoke context-sensitive help once the step is displayed. The insurance claims processing system may search one or more index tables for entries including a page ID and / or codes from one or more elements of the page. The insurance claims processing system may locate one or more entries in the one or more index tables and then locate entries in the one or more help tables using information from the entries located in the one or more index tables. Relevance calculation for a reference system in an insurance claims processing system

An improved method and system for providing context-sensitive help and interactive search capability in an insurance claims processing system. A help information database may include one or more index tables, one or more header tables and one or more text tables. The insurance claims processing system may display information from located help table entries in order of relevance. In one embodiment, entries in the index table may include a relevance value for the occurrence of the term in the help database. In one embodiment, the relevance values for the entries in the index table may be calculated and stored in the index table prior to a user accessing the help database. In another embodiment, the relevance value for an entry in the index table may be calculated dynamically when the entry is identified as an occurrence of a search term or of a step or step element code in context-sensitive help. In one embodiment, relevance values for the entries in the index table may be calculated using the position of the term in the text object (header or text section), the number of words in the term, the number of words in the text object, and the type of text object for the entry (header or text section). In one embodiment, occurrences in headers may be considered generally more relevant than occurrences in text sections, and therefore a different mechanism may be used to calculate the relevance of occurrences in headers than the mechanism used to calculate the relevance of occurrences in text sections.

Interactive search method and device

ActiveCN102456018AThe pertinence and accuracy of search resultsSpecial data processing applicationsSearch wordsUser input
The invention discloses an interactive search method and device, belonging to the field of information retrieval. The method comprises the following steps: obtaining the query words input by a user; determining the intention characteristic values of the query words; and determining the search results according to the query words and the intention characteristic values of the query words. The device comprises a query word module, a characteristic value module and a search module. Through the interactive search mode that people communicate with a search engine, the search engine determines the search results according to the intention of the user rather than the search words and can initiatively question the user in a certain mode, offer the user prompts or options, help the user to determine the current or subsequent intention, and return the search results determined according to the intention chosen by the user to the user; moreover, the search engine can rearrange the search results initiatively, not in a questioning manner, after clearly understanding the intention of the user by collecting the responses (such as clicks, browse and other behaviours) of the user in a certain mode.
